But yes, i did weep a little at supposed 30+ years old not even knowing the basic plot of the Count of Monte Christo (or apparently even hearing about it) never mind actually reading it.

neither did I until I played this game first time I've heard of it so it's believable to me or at least if I did hear of it in the past i forgot cause it was forgettable to me. I'm guessing im close enough to the age I should of heard of it lol. Tho there are alot of things around my age I should of heard of but never did cause I never gave a shit about certain things. Especially when it comes to movies and actors / music.

I've never read it but have been thinking of finding a nice (old) edition that isn't abridged. They are pretty expensive though. I was vaguely familiar with the plot though.

MC's interaction with Nikki after she comes back really makes no sense after the remake. He's way angrier than it makes sense to be given the new context of the remake. Before Nikki seduced him for some money while also having feelings for him now it's just the feelings and it's MC who initiates the charity. Now Nikki is almost entirely blameless and an innocent victim. It make no sense at all to pick the dark path. I feel like this is true with a lot of the dark path options now. Before there was an (unreasonable, and cruel) but understandable train of thought towards the MC decisions but now there's none. Maybe this is what people mean when they say the dark path feels neutered? It's much more jarring now to pick the dark options than it was before. I am not sure why that is. Maybe because the MC is no longer such a blank slate? Will this be changed?

I don't think adding more interactions with existing charters was a good idea. A good general rule of thumb for writing: for it to be in the story it should serve some purpose. But before and after the remake the way the characters interact with the MC is almost entirely unchanged. It's just bloat. It's better to add more depth to what you have than to just increase the number of characters. Plus the character you choose to add are very similar in their dynamic with the book shop family. In any story you'll never be able to go through every single thing the MC's will be going through second to second so you're supposed to just show the most important and impactful moments for the MC's story. I've been skipping way more and I know would still be skipping a little even if I hadn't played this before. Before the writing was snappier and to the point but now there's much more wasted words, inconsequential events and unnecessary context. The remake isn't worth replaying the same game with a different shade of colour on it. Just imo though.

Think about it this way: Your best friend who you've had a crush on for years finally connects with you romantically, leading to the best night of your life, only to disappear for a while with no explanation. Ok, so that's the romantic path specifically, but keep in mind that on every path, even the dark path, Guy canonically has a thing for Nikki; so romantic path and friend path, he loves her and cares for her well-being deeply, while on domination path and dark path, you can say he feels possessive of her. Either way, he's concerned or displeased, respectfully, about her disappearance.

There has been a major rework of the code, and old saves don't work anymore. But also, the first chapter and part of the second have been rewritten, and are much better than before.

How is it a mess? He has told everyone (the paying ones are the ones that matter anyway) every step of the way what each and every update would entail and how it would be done.

NeonGhosts One route I love in particular is the one where you start off as an asshole with Ash, forcing her to come home with you and sleep with you. And then later switching up on her and being nice to her. It's so well written that I can't help but be impressed by the realism, and I feel that is exactly how things will go tbh. MC is a bit screwed in the head for doing what he did, threatening her job and forcing her to sleep with him, but then he switches up and actually shows his good sides.

Oh, thanks! I was really happy that doing the remake allowed me to do kind of a side route for Ashe, where you almost threaten her job into sleeping with you, only to relent at the last second. Previously that just redirected onto a friend route, the threat being awkwardly handwaved away. Now it leads to more easily accessing the light corruption path, which you describe.

I've told my Discord this, but that route's really made me want to build a better light corruption route into Gabby's path, too. I already have some ideas, and I'd love to redo all that stuff taking place at Gabby/Madison's apartment to accomplish it. I imagine I'll eventually remaster those chapters to do just that, but for now I just try not to think about it. :'D

if you exclude non paying members the game would stagnate and loop on the paying members choices that are not always good even if you make them happy you risk driving away the thousands of potential new paying members , AVN games are built on the 95% of non-paying fans

No, but really. I know I say it a lot in one form or another, but I really appreciate the hard work and the passion, and I trust your overall judgment.
