People are acting like its a scam cause thats how Patreon is. You avoid making any real progress because the longer your project goes the more money you milk from your fanbase. It builds laziness into its system as profit, think American construction companies.
Good thing this game's not on Patreon then, it's on SubscribeStar and Pixiv Fanbox. :4Head:
Also higher quality art doesn't make it take longer. At that level artists have no problem hashing out a new cg in a few hours and with the framework done it isn't that difficult to implement new sprites and make them work.
Not all artists work at the same pace, though. Not all artists are also trying to implement several different versions of one image in a game they're seemingly programming by themselves.
We also have no idea about their personal life (considering the dev is Japanese and hasn't even posted to their own twitter in months) so who knows if they're trying to work a regular job while also making a dickgirl elf RPG platformer.
So with no communication saying otherwise (Most developers tell us when they are sick or in a war) we can only assume the lack of updates is intentional.
Again, considering the dev is Japanese and we don't know a lot of details about their personal life, I really don't think it's fair to complain about lack of communications when their native language isn't English. I also don't think it's fair to make it out like it's some other patreon scams like you'd see on this site, it's not like they personally made the thread and went "hey guys here's my game please support on patreon :)" only to fuck off after a few months.
Also "lack of updates" isn't really correct either, considering they do seem to update pretty frequently - one look at the dev log and updates on itch.io will show you as much. The most significant update was just at the start of this month so I really, really don't know where people are coming from.

Wow its almost like those are the same thing and I gave an example of one.
This project is over a year old and still has less cg than many .01. That is where people are coming from. People are coming from the frustration of paying developers who promise big things and seeing no results for months on end (though arguably most in this forum are upset that OTHERS are paying and not them personally). We just got a big update sure, but in the same time frame other developers of similar game styles might give 12 big updates. Its about actually working on your project with ADVANCING it in mind. Bugs gotta be fixed but the people aren't showing up to see a changelog of bug fixes, they aren't paying creators to send them lists of physics issues or wrong spellings. In the early stages of a project you gotta shell out some content or people will be come disinterested. And its very much in their rights to do so.

(Apologies for that - I was mainly being sarcastic there and tried to come across as such with the :4Head:.)

Okay, so I got curious and looked at everything Mofu has - their fanbox, subscribestar, itch.io, even DLsite and you know what I found?
No one is paying for this game!
The fanbox says it's currently not accepting fans, the subscribestar only has a "free" tier with 130 subs, the itch.io download takes you directly to the download without a "pay what you want" option popping up, and the game isn't available on DLsite.
The mere thought that this game is some long-con scam of trickling out as little content as possible for months of money is complete bullshit. Updates are slow and minimal because Mofu is seemingly working on the game for absolutely fucking free. Will there be a paid option once the game is finally finished? I don't fuckin' know, I'm not the dev.

Its Mofuland. They sell games through several sites. The way they market them is in pieces as well. So they sell a game at its .x then sell it again at .y. You cannot upgrade. Or at least that is what they did with Cursed Princess where you bought the game each time a new version came out. They mostly monetize through their pixiv and dlsite though as they aren't an english developer.

Edit: Also their pixiv fanbox says the next content update will be released 3/3 for those wondering.

Their pixiv fanbox (in Japanese) just tells you to go download the game through itch.io, and Kinokogari/Futaken Valley isn't on DLsite. Not even on DMM, either.

I am not seeing any proof whatsoever of this game being monetized, unless there's some unheard-of Japanese site where people are paying a ton of yen for these updates.

You misunderstand, I am suggesting what they may do based on past experience, not telling what they are currently doing on their dlsite. If you want to pay them wait for their pixiv fanbox to open to new fans again.

Too many words, such little said....

The games fundamentally in alpha phase, development of CG etc could be a massive dump of wasted time if engine/design/art changes.

From memory the dev has little/no experience with action games, let alone platformers.
They likely want and i can fully support a SOLID foundation to a game like this.

Complaining about a lack of CG is admitting you aren't here for a game, go look at porn man.

Oh forgot to note, i belive they are a solo dev. Meaning both programming and art is by them.

I can guess you guys didn't follow development of the older game either? think i remember that taking a few years

Well fellas, only time will tell, i don’t think this dev is a scammer, didn’t see anything out of the ordinary with this game, and apart from that it’s a japanese dude, i never see a japanese dropping a project because yes, (Except the ones who are paranoing with piracy). They would have other reasons if that’s the case, i guess.
So yeah, let’s just wait and see how this goes…

Lets be honest how many low budget games you see here that actually make big progres after months lazy work? most of them want just milk money for nothing, just do not have to much expectations friend In this game Im am on this forum since 2017 belive me.
I could agree with you… If this game did have a patreon, didn’t see one except for the Pixiv, but it doesn’t look like his milking things in there, apart from that he make another game called Futaring, and it seems complete ass hell, so maybe this dev likes to take his time, i see that he’s focusing on creating new characters and stuff, he did show a variety of them in one of his post, without paying, and that’s weird in patreon standards, so yeah, maybe i’m wrong, but hey, every game has they’re ways of making, so if you think that’s it’s a scam, well you do you then.
