As our programmer is implementing the city map and new locations (after which we'll change the game's version to 0.2), I'm working on rendering new characters all over college. And today I'm going to tell you about one of those locations, the classroom.
Since college is a big part of our game, and most classes are going to be held in the classroom, players are going to spend a lot of time there and we want to spend as much attention to it as we can. Here's the list of sprites for the location we're planning for now (most of them are already rendered and edited):
- 11 students sitting at their desks
- 10 students sitting next to Kate (Kate will always be shackled to her own desk)
- 11 students in-between classes (see below for example)
- 11 students next to the school board facing the students and explaining something
- 11 students facing the school board pointing at something
- 4 teachers, 6 poses each. That's 24 sprites
- 12 laptops inside desks
- 12 laptops on desks
That's over a hundred sprites just for the first tier of college uniform, already done. We'll also add 54 sprites for tier two, when the time comes.
We'll also add more items on desks: notebooks, pens, textbooks, various stuff on teacher's desk.
We'll also add different images on laptops' screens (that's N images times 12 laptops)
We'll obviously need several images on the school board for each class.
When the time comes, we'll be adding special graphics (poses, writing on the board, etc) for special classes lie anatomy and sex ed.
This project is very important for us, we're pouring our souls in it. For better or worse, there aren't many other games with the same attention to details, graphics and mechanics. We're hoping all our effort will make our game truly exceptional.
Of course, pretty pictures and code isn't all there is to the game. Despite the game being a sandbox, the story we're planning is going to be a lot bigger and more interesting than in BB.
For a start, BB was very episodic. I had planned the story until about 0.7, after which I only had general direction of where the story is going to end and next versions of the game were focused on characters depending on people's choices and discussions. That's not how it's going to be with Glamour. I wrote the story several years ago and spent a long time thinking about little details. I also have many storylines for secondary characters. This means the game is going to have a plethora of content!
Of course, such a massive project requires a lot of time, but we're sure it's worth it.
I spot Alice in there
