Folks on the discord for this game have also just kinda given up on Rolanda actually continuing the project. Though, it seems they've managed to decompile the game, and there is some chatter about picking up where the OG dev left off.

The only advantage I can tell myself so far is the visual coding method (blueprint), allows people that is allergic to coding language (C#,C++,Python...) like me to code the game without relying too much on them
I've always kinda disliked this mentality.
You should really be taking the chance to improve your ability with writing code, since it's not just a matter of gluing together functions to make something work, but a thought process you have to go through to make a good solution to a complex problem, and working with code more frequently just naturally improves your ability to plan out how your game's logic is going to look.
That's not to say that you should turn into a turbo-sperg and learn how to roll your own bootloader or something wild like that, but it is to say that practicing how to write good, performant code is a worth while effort, since it often leads to code that's easier to build off of, which seems to be a running issue for a few games on here like captivity, as from what I can tell it turned into an unmaintainable mess that the dev found impossible to build on top of and resulted in them ending development earlier than expected.

If you think I didn't try hard enough, before Unreal, I spent a whole year dedicated to Unity because everyone told me it's the best game for indie developers. Call me stupid if you want, even with tutors, my brain just can't cope with that, it is what it is.

Blueprint is just another way of coding, if you think it is unoptimized and unmaintainable, with the progress I've made so far, I strongly disagree

Unconfirmed information, take it with a grain of salt.
Eww, personal experience says the game is dead as the whole head of the fan club saying that stuff usually means the dev has developed patreonitis and will release increasingly slowly until the money tree dies.

In all fairness, Unity wash pushed pretty heavily back in the day because the alternative was either using engines that required source level modification, or did very little in terms of actual functionality, but nowadays comes across as a bit of a bloated mess.
Blueprints can work for simpler projects, but once you start scaling up from extremely small scale indie stuff, you're going to want to know how to write your own logic so you can have more direct control over how things actually work under the hood.
I'd honestly recommend something like Godot to anyone trying to learn game logic, its scripting language is based on python which is far easier to learn (as it was literally designed to be a language used to teach programming), and still gives you the option of using blueprints for any logic you write yourself.
Not to say that if you're already working on something you should just change your engine, since that's comically unreasonable, but I would say for your next project it may be worth a try.

This game somehow surprised me, very fun and interesting but quite short in content yet sadly. I really hope the dev won't give up on continue this game cause it gots lots of potential, i can imagine wonders of new neat things the dev might think about to add if it's going to happen.

I think at this point we need to change the status to abandoned. Theres a roadmap for the first half of 2025 but nothing for the second and the last patreon post was on july 16 and ended with "See you around on 30/7!" (july 30th). Theres a response in the comments saying they're working on an October update but that never happened so yeah this is totally abandonware. I hope the guys who decompiled it can continue where the creator left off bc its really promising.

This dev disappeared in 2024 for several months only to reappear much later at the end of that year to drop updates. Then they dropped updates in 2025 only to do the same disappearing act. Maybe we'll see something before the end of the year or early spring next year. I hope they don't give up developing their game as it has some real promise.

Problem being it already is the end of the year (4 days away from new years eve) and back then there was at least this list on the discord saying what was done, how much of it, and what was being worked on there wasn't complete silence like now
