you've gotta have some good points and not have more than a certain number of bad points (I think 6 or 7). If you rack up too many bad points early in the game Eric will automatically not accept an open relationship. Think about it kinda realistically I guess? If Ash is openly flirting with other people and changes her whole look to be more slutty in the span of about 2 weeks, Eric isn't a complete idiot and knows what she wants by an "open relationship"

I think you can do more or less anything besides joining Wilson's gang. As long as you don't do that, I think you have to actively end the open relationship for it to end. There's a lot of content for that route!

For successful open relationship
1) avoid first contact with gang in club.
2) Dont' get in relationship with gang. This will lead to defenite breakup.
3) Be honest and inform eric about all the people you are sleeping with and dont discourage him if he expresses interest in anyone else.
4) Buy the third dildo and use it in you web chat with eric.
5) when inital chat with Eve in gym choose "i can do better" and latter Jessica before club "i dont know". this dosn't make a big difference but locks you on open relationship path.

Slut Eva is only gang path. But that is not exclusive. You share her with the gang. You can also hook up with slut eva if you are in open relationship with eric and dave or in relationship with arthur jack or rapper.
You can be in relationship with good eve or bad eve if you initiate kiss in club. later you can confirm the relationship. good eve can also become bad eve later. there is also a chance to establish ash as dominant or submissive in relationship. this opens up possibilities of open and bisexual relationship if dominant.
There is only good jessand dave relationship which occurs if dave and eva break off their relationship.

It is quite difficult to follow like 80% of the time. Mostly, it's just broken down into character story lines that you're able to follow and go down. Several of them are not mutually exclusive while others are and thats included in the textbox for each event which makes the whole guide even more confusing. Overall, you could just scroll down to the bottom to see where you are in the overall story timeline and then look for the specific event in the doc.
