I once read "Artificial Intelligence isn't just a misnomer, it's a prestidigitation trick. While we are looking at the flashy results, the other hand(s) are moving the scenes." I feel that there's a bit of truth in that.
100% agree that there is some truth in that.

But I would argue that it's not a misnomer.
At least not when we look at the example given here & take "artificial" as "false".
It's most certainly "false" intelligence. ;):ROFLMAO:

But, without the onset of "self-learning" (which is when they can exceed human intelligence & become fucking scary!), AI is only as smart as the person who created it &, as we know, we're living in Idiocracy.
"Common sense", the world's biggest oxymoron. Least "common" thing on the planet. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You know, the relation between "Artificial" and "False" is even thinner than the one between "Natural" and "True". We have seen here in this micro sample of human thinking that "Natural Intelligence" is also something rare. Now, if we said "Natural Stupidity", oh that is flourishing and thriving... There's no "Artificial Stupidity" to compare it with, but, if we define Intelligence as starting from Zero, there's a lot of it at that level... :sneaky::giggle:

Lots of smart kids need to do that at school so as not to stand out & get isolated, then picked on.
I wish I thought of that 50 years ago........... I wasn't beaten because I was bigger than everyone even if I was 1 year and a half younger. But, the rest was horrible.......

Peace :(

he made it, but it is of no use at all
Not in computer terms, but smart people pretending to be thick - surely that's artificial stupidity?
Lots of smart kids need to do that at school so as not to stand out & get isolated, then picked on.
This continues into adult life, for some. If their peer group are all a lot more thick than them, they'll continue dumbing down in their presence.
Sounds like Bonhoeffers theory on stupidity if you ask me....

I'm not going to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
If someone doesn't find conflating a dead teenager whose going to grow up and change with an adult you expect to be alive then they are not only unarmed but also legless.

Personally, I don't mind kicking gimps when they are down. Especially when they ask for it.

It's honestly not mate. It's part of the literal meaning of the word:
Well, dang it, I was thinking of Artificial as in it being man made. Like an Artifact. Like the work of an Artifice.

Absolutely NOT in the False sense of it. Because a painting, for example, isn't a "true" representation of something, but it isn't "False" either.

That is the sense in which I read "Artificial Intelligence", as "Man Made Intelligence", or, "Fac Simile Intelligence" (Something that resembles intelligence), but not as "False Intelligence", because even if it isn't really intelligence, it is also NOT False.

Peace :)

Hi, this game looks great judging from the render, but I see somewhere saying it's not animated, is there or will there be any plans for animation in the future?

Well, you're not wrong. "Artificial" really just means something which does not occur naturally.
But it can be a copy of something which does. e.g. Artificial light.
I believe that's where the "false" definition comes from.

Take your example of a painting. If someone painted a real flower, what is shown in the painting is not a real flower, but the artist's impression of it.
So it's an artificial flower - not naturally ocurring (in the painting).
Which makes it a false flower in the painting, because it's categorically not a real one (despite being "of" a real one), but it is an imitation of a real one.
Hence "false".
