Alright, so I understand the artist/renderer and the creator had a falling out and this game will never be completed with the current divide between parties. What's stopping development of this game with a different dev team? Does anyone even know who the artist is?

The game is effectively abandoned. The artist who worked with Zanzibar left the project long ago, and Zanzibar has stayed silent ever since, seemingly profiting from the small income still coming in through Patreon.
He shows no regret for this.
After almost a year of silence, this was the first message his paying supporters (and former paying supporters) received, and he has not posted anything else since then, not even a "thank you for your support".

Right after I told him he can stop the supporting, his Discord disappeared. It's either he blocked me or deleted his Discord

how can he be so full of himself? did the game looked good? yes. was it one of the best looking? by far not.
looks like he blocked you. the discord is still there. and zanzibar just wrote 20 min ago that everyone should stop to support the game.

He claims not to be "leeching the patreon money", because it's only $50/month. $50 or $1, it's still leeching, IF YOU AREN'T DOING ANYTHING TO DESERVE IT. An honorable developer would close down the account, if they have no intention of continuing, or at least pause payments, if they think they might pick it up in the future.
This developer has no honor and is a leech by definition.

Hm, kinda makes me sad. It was a DECENT VN. Looked forward to the game truly start moving forward.
I guess that won't happen now. Im sad.
But then I read his 'statement' on Discord, and..well, that gave me a big hearty laugh, so... now I'm good again.
At least Zanzi managed to do something right, he made me laugh
