VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Haley's Story [v1.1 Pre-Patched] [Viitgames]

Ive gotta say, the first time i played this, i went in with low expectations since im alwayse game to give new games a tryout & without a doubt it exeeded all expectations going above and beyond. I loved the story, loved Haleys character and the slow growth and friendship between you and her to the point of sharing somthing truely special.

Definately a 10/10 in my book.
If you havent played this, i highly recommend giving it a try, i assure you, you will not regret it.

Lovely game! By the end of it you will really be attached to Haley (really hard not to one of the best love interest i've ever seen).

I couldn't help but get attached to Haley and her personality.

A coulpe things i didn't like.

I was really hoping for us to see the resulf of a few things we had seen Haley strugling through: What happent with her issues, her psychologist, did she overcome those? i think it felt rushed.

Love the game and will miss Haley.

Loved it. Decent story with nice characters. Maybe a little rushed at the end with some paths unresolved but overall pretty great and well worth playing. Looking forward to more games from this dev.

Game is finished so time for a rating... I am giving it a 5, but its more like a 4.5... as I felt the endings felt a bit rushed, and could have been a bit longer and more in depth.

Story 5/5 - I liked the story, its right up there with Dreaming of Dana as far as interesting incest stories regarding siblings... Haley does most of the heavy lifting for the story as she has personality to spare, even in her more vulnerable arcs... The MC however sometimes felt like he had Autism, or needed a bit more personality.

Characters 4.5/5 - Most characters are awesome, the MC being the weakest link honestly... From spunky Haley, to Adorable Sandra, to the Parents, to the Bosses, to the Friends.. everyone was honestly great.

Graphics 4.5/5 - steadily improved throughout the game, while not jaw dropping, they were quite good, the animations were a bit slow and janky, but nothing downright awful by any means.

Very solid game. I enjoyed the mixture of models that diverged from the vanilla standard and the storyline works out pretty good. Plenty of humor in the game as well. Overall, it's a bit of a tossup between a 4 and a 5 but I think that the sexy scenes could use a bit better writing yet to really hit home.

Writing wise, better than 95% of games on this site! I know that's not much of a recommendation...

This is a sweet and somewhat romantic erotic game where lust is not the MC's sole motivation (although it is a very strong one). The female characters are not total idiots that have no will or desire of their own. The dialogues are a little stale sometimes and it does feel a bit rushed toward the end, but nonetheless is a better game than most. Overall, a pleasant and sexy play for incest aficionados..

Been putting this one off, cause I'd really like to rate it higher, but it has a lot of problems that keep it from it's true potential.
Even with the problems, it has a pretty good Bro/Sis incest story, that makes it worth a play, if you keep your expectations low.

The Good
The main storyline is solid, and Haley is well written, as a pretty complex character, who is in love with her twin brother.
The renders are pretty decent and varied. I especially like the way Haley and Lisa were done, as pretty, but normal looking girls. All super models, all the time gets pretty tedious. Though Diane is also well done as the super hot fitness obsessed neighbor. Shame her story was left incomplete. Which leads to

The not so Good
Lots of loose ends in the game. Many characters and side stories, just abandoned. It's really sad, as some more Diane, Lisa, and Adriana content would have been most welcome. The endings feel quite rushed, and don't give much satisfaction. Would have liked some solo endings, or alternate endings with some of the other ladies.
Forced romance with Sandra early in the game, was very frustrating. Made the game feel like it was on rails and very few choices were left to the player. Also took forever to get rid of her, which felt like a pretty big waste of time.
Animations and lewd scenes are not great, and are too short. Also some variation of music, and sound effects, especially in the lewd scenes, would have made the game much more enjoyable.
It started out very promising, except for the Sandra part, and just felt like the game ran out of energy and focus. The dialogue gets choppy and repetitive. Pacing gets very uneven, sometimes dragging, sometimes a bit rushed. Story Seems to kind of lose direction, and fails to follow through properly on some of the things it started.

Overall I'd say the game is a decent first effort, in spite of some pretty big drawbacks, and hopefully the next one will be much improved.

Haley's Story is a Ren'Py visual novel that tells us the story of two siblings leaving their parents house to move in the city, starting out a new life in grown up's shady business world. Game takes in place in modern times. Our characters live in the same house, work together in the same company, same office, away from their parents gaze and iron grip, free of control. This newly found freedom sparks up some events that should never occur between a brother and sister and would forever change them and their lives for the better, or worse.

Although it is painfuly obvious that it has been rushed, this is one of those rare games in this website that is actually have an ending. This is a completed game. No I'm serious. Full package. If you are new here and gonna stick around, you'll see that the rest of the 99% of the games here on this website is not. I'll be the cheap asshole and complain about this stuff again, thinking saying it even a thousand times aint enough, i mean i don't pay to play a dime for the games here, but with this game, you are not gonna wait forever to get an update that extends the gameplay for 37 seconds more where it left off 2 years ago. Some devs actually do that to ride 2 more years on that patreon money and get rid of a certain "abandoned" tag it may get here. Easy cash. Anyways, I'm sure you are dazzled by my rambling about how other people shouldn't milk suckers for every penny they have, but hey, i gotta start talking about the game now, put some pro's and con's at the end.

I'm sure you already figured in the first sentence of this review, this is an incest game. Which i love as a pornographic concept. Sibling thing is actually a side dish for me on that regard but if you are after a well paced story and like the concept, you'd be uhh.. Partially happy. Story has certain kinks and choices for you that goes a long way if you are yearning for variety. This game has multiple endings. From what i've heard and figured. Though you only make like 5 choices "at most" that will effect the ending. And you got like 10 choices to make in the whole game. Not much you can do i know. I'm not so sure about the other endings though. Because, i already rushed for the one i got at the end. More on that later. On most of the things you might wish you could change, you have limited freedom to do so. You get to some of them, you know, eventually but by then the moment has passed and you gotta roll with the new rules and base stuff in your head according those said rules anyway. I know im making little sense but I'm trying my best to not give out any spoilers here. Sorry!

Haley's Story is a game that i can recommend to you.. If you have alot of free time and are into incest. I liked the game more than i hate it. That's for sure. But i couldn't give this one 4 stars, let alone 5. You know, i mentioned that i've rushed the game at the end? I literally skipped whole chunks of story because it was chalk full of overwhelmingly boring and cringy conversations at this point. I couldn't left it then and there, i had to rush to the end, to get that feeling of completion for something i put hours on in my free time. And ending was anticlimactic with many loose ends from what i could snatch. Game was already lost on me by then so i didn't really care much about the loose ends, but still.. Let's talk about some pro's and con's.

Pro's
+ This game is complete.

+ All and all nice renders, resolution quality is quite good.

+ Good pacing with the story. You are not gonna see your sis jump in your arms when she sees your dick by accident in the first 10 minutes of the game and begging for a creampie. Game actually stirs you up with sudden morality checks through out the game.

+ If you take away the concept from the story, it is a creative and a believable one.

Con's
- Limited freedom to do what you please. This is a VN after all but if you include some freedom, to change the goddamn ending i mean, you gotta follow them up adequately i believe.

- Quality is suboptimal at best in animations department.

- Some scenes were so dark, i wasn't sure if i was looking at my future or the game.

- Repetitive, cringy, booooring conversations. At some point i wanted the game turn into Doom Eternal so i can rip and tear everyone on sight. Dev didn't know where to stop and it hurt the game bad at the end.

I have a love and hate relationship with this one, which is weird because i never had a gray area about a vn ren'py game before. It was either good or bad. If it was good, i'd play it until where the latest update would take me and recommend it to others with my broken english if i really feel like it. If it was bad, i'd drop it like it's hot, come back here to bitch about it, so others won't waste their precious time on it. I hope this confusing heap of ramble i wrote was a little helpful for you to decide if you wanna invest time on this game. Whatever you do, i hope you'll be happy with it. Have a wonderful day.

The overall game experience is good.
Characters are decently developed, good backstory, atmosphere is good, great renders etc.
But the endings are all too generic & have no impact. If you saw the endings half-way through the game it would still be ok & you could make perfect sense of what was missed as nothing substantial happens.
And half of the plots that were introduced were basically brushed aside & were given no meaning or impact.
I still recommend the game but i hope dev will make better endings in his/her future games. If it takes longer to flesh out endings then take your time & don't forget to include some nice animations (as last update had no animations it feels like dev just stopped caring & wanted to end it fast).

The dev stopped caring or lost interest mid-way. The rush game ending with a lot of unfinished plots and generic endings. Such a shame for a great starting game.
The only reason for 2 stars is that he somewhat finished the game.

TBH this was way better than I anticipated. Sure storywise there isn't a lot to go on for it's very simplistic (which I usually prefer) but really enjoyable still it definitely dragged on towards the ending which was totally unnecessary & boring. Also the ending wasn't that impactful though seemed pretty realistic in terms of 'incest' pov. The character models & sex animations were really smooth & excellent to watch. My fav character was Haley especially watching all her facial expressions was amazing & even the disgusted /irritated expressions that she makes was so cute to watch not to mention that she is insanely funny. What I didn't like was the lack of choices yeah there isn't much life changing choices also most choices didn't even have any dire consequences. Man its quite obvious that they want MC to end with Haley only so they come up so out of world events to show u that for eg. The MC GF Sandra who wasn't exactly my 1st choice but still started to grow on me seeing how much she cares for MC deepdown is made so dark that u really can't see her facial expressions most of the time even though her uncle is still visible. Also out of nowhere right after MC starts dating her officially (yes I meant after their 1st sex) she suddenly gets a promotion that forces her to stay in a totally "different city" & can only visit him during "weekends" also if this wasn't just enough she says it will be like this for "a few years". Right after she breaks this message I would have really loved to have a 3rd choice 'Let's break up' as the 2 options given to us are hopeful ones. Still overall a really enjoyable VN indeed though it does drag on a little towards the end its definitely worth it for Haley alone(man I loved that girl)

This could have been one of the best games out there. It's still very good, but. It basically shoots itself in the foot at the end. Not that the ending content itself is bad, but it ended at an unfortunately typical part of the story.

Anyway, first, the other stuff.

Renders themselves are pretty nice. Animation is probably the one place it doesn't stack up to modern releases. However recently animations have been getting crazy good crazy fast, which dropped this from "good enough" animations to kinda lackluster ones. However what they lack in quantity, they make up for with timing. They animations are well placed and make the most of what they've got. The quality peaks in the mid-late game, as I think some of the final animations got a bit rushed and ended up a little mechanical.

The best part of this story is, well, the characters. It does an incredible job of creating good characters. Even the parents that don't get much screen time have a super distinct character to them. Impressively, unlike most other VNs with good characters, the characters here are also relatively understated. Haley ends up as a bit of an exception, but I don't think that's a bad thing at all. It's just a lot harder to do otherwise, I think, and here nearly every single character is decently built up. There are one or two quasi-exceptions, but they're also particularly peripheral to the MC in most every way, so it works.

More than that, it does an incredible job of creating and building the relationship between the MC and Haley. Just all around amazing. I feel like I should have more to say because this is one of the best parts of this game, but, well, I don't. It's just super great. Really, this relationship on top of the actual characterization is wonderful.

Now, the bad. Where it all shoots itself in the foot. None of the endings really... wrap themselves up. Again this isn't so much the content of the endings but where they occur. The relationship with Haley gets established wonderfully, but... in every route with another girl the relationship with that girl - and Haley and that girl - never really gets fleshed out in any real way. And in the Haley-only route, there's a bunch of tension set up with the parents that just sort of... persists. It's never even explored how MC's and Haley's relationship responds to that pressure.

While I enjoy most of the routes here, I think things would probably have worked out far better if there was just one route. The effort of really fleshing out all the routes properly would be substantial. I can understand why the dev decided to just not do it, but... it really does leave things hanging a bit. In another game it would still be pretty good, but the quality of the rest of the game works against making it feel satisfying here. The characters are so good that you care more about having it all properly settled. The relationship with Haley also shows you what could be there, but isn't.

But we don't get that. Instead we basically get "hey let's seriously date and also we're fucking Haley too" as the last scene before it goes straight to the apparently inescapable "6 months later" that's an obvious stand-in for a rest-of-their-lives montage. And that's just really unfortunate.

Ah, this is one of those games for me where I know its really great to other people and I can see why and I can even enjoy it for what it is. But, it really just felt like a boring slice of life except you have incest in there to try to spice the slice of life up on top of a story that is done really well but not to interesting.

Basically what I am saying is I think its a great game, with like-able characters and clearly a lot of effort went into this game and nothing I say can take that away but personally the game for me wasn't enjoyable due to its simplistic straight as an arrow story (i.e things you expected to happen pretty much happen.) nothing unexpected happens and nothing makes you really want to know what happens.

I recommend playing it because it does deliver what it offers so obviously there will be a group that likes this.

TLDR; This game is excellent. Play it if you haven't already. I wanted to give this a 4/5 but -- for no other reason than the fact that the dev fucking completed their game (a tragic rarity for adult games) -- I decided to give it that extra star. So if the completed status of this game doesn't matter to you, pretend that I gave it a 4/5.

For a more in-depth review, I will start with some negatives because I will be gushing about the writing later but I want it to be clear that this is not a perfect game.

The biggest issue for me was the quality of the h-scenes. The renders are good but the animations are minimal and stilted. There is a lack of variety in angles and positions, etc... They serve their purpose, but if it wasn't for the writing elevating these scenes, I wouldn't have liked this game nearly as much as I do.

As for the writing, it could use another once-over from a proof reader to get rid of all the little typos, grammar errors, etc... Additionally, while I thought all the endings were satisfying, I couldn't help but feel like they were a little brief and that they left some things unanswered. Some more in-depth thoughts on the endings below, skip that to avoid spoilers.


But now onto the good stuff. The star of the show here is the writing. This game has -- hands down -- the absolute best dialogue of any game on this site. Period. No contest. The characters are witty, they are clever, they are funny, likable, realistic, etc... I could gush about this dialogue writing forever. This game made me laugh more than any other adult game and it didn't have to resort to stupid memes that will be outdated by the next update or some embarrassing 4th wall breaking to do it. The dev is just a fantastic character and dialogue writer.

The story/plot on the other hand is very simple, nothing special or interesting on its own. It's basically just set-dressing for these characters. Additionally, the story really loses steam in the 3rd act (likely due to a loss of interest by the dev). And I think if the dialogue wasn't so phenomenal, the uninteresting plot might have been a big problem for me. But as-is, I really enjoyed the story because the plot was constantly being elevated by the great characters and their dialogue.

I'm not messing around here, this is the only game on this entire site that I would play even if all the h-content was removed. I want to read a book written by this dev (though maybe storyboarded by someone else). I could literally gush about the dialogue writing forever but I'll stop there.

All-in-all, this game is very good. The writing is great, and everything else is either good or serviceable. There's nothing here that I would consider outright bad and, as I mentioned in my TLDR, this game gets a free star just for actually being completed.

Firstly this is a harem game, tagged as such. But yet you must take a path with whatever girl you want. This to me is hardly a harem style game at all and for that it loses points for me.

Second the writing is bad and rather boring. I took the Haley path and since the game is called Haley's story, I figure there would be a lot of great content. There wasn't. You basically do the same thing for most of the game. For that this game will lose more points.

Third the Haley character is so damn cute and loveable and had soooo much potential for a great story. However the development of her story was beyond weak and very disappointing to say the least. I believe this was due to other character development in other paths which I never saw due to playing the Haley path I believe. Have to play the same boring for every path option is mindlessly painful and I rarely ever do unless is a great game.

Fourth the renders of the girls were great and the sex scene's were ok. I felt is was a little under done and seems much like the other sex scene's

All in all with the release of each update and only other paths were available at time, after fairly long wait at time there was no update for my path. This got old and only made me dislike paths even less. The game is complete and I'm glad for. Overall I think this game could have been and wasn't.

This game isnt one of those you can't pass on.. It 7 plus gigs of boring of a super hot red head. Be prepared.

good game with as silly story as it almost can get but it works and that makes game good, good graphics (not top grade but still good) don't hurt and game has a lot sexscenes and various paths so game isn't over in hr if plays all paths.

It's ok, dont really see how the choices really matter tho, i tried to romance somebody else and avoided as much sis choices as possible and yet still got the 3 way ending. I get that her name is literally in the title and it doesn't say multiple endings but still, they could of made it so much more which is why I'm giving it a 3 star.

Haley's Story is a good game, it's worth playing, has likeable characters and decent sex scenes, however the game doesn't do anything more than that and fails to deliver on everything you'd expect.

The first 9/10 of the Sister's story is really great, if the entire game was of this quality it would be a masterpiece, the game starts with a nice slow burn, that is believable and satisfying without being at all tedious. Once the Brother/Sister relationship begins the quality of the writing or my interest doesn't at all drop off, almost evey single interaction between the MC and Haley was funny and cute right untill the end. The twist other reviews talk about is actually done really well in my opinion, perhaps because I only started playing the game after the twist was introduced, it adds a lot of depth and emotion to the Brother/Sister relationship. My issue is with how anti-climatic the endings feel, nothing exciting or interesting happens, especially with the sister, the status quo of the last few episodes just seems to continue with some tacted on pregnancy.

This alone wouldn't necessarily wouldn't make the game as much of a disappointment as it, however the weak end isn't the games only problem. Nearly of all the side girls start off nearly as strong has Hayey, however this doesn't last. Half of them lose any personality while the others seem to vanish off the face of the earth without explanation, unless I've missed something in my 3 playthroughs using the gide, half the routes are unfinished.

The girls that have endings suffer from the same problems as the endings of Haleys route, a lack of satisfaction or anything of interest happening. This game has a really strong first half, and strong elements throughout, however after a while it feels like the Devs just lost passion for the game.

Viitgames clearly has potential, I just hope they lost interest in Haley's Story not the genre, and don't make the same mistake on their next project.

One of my earliest played games. It's an unforgettable pleasant ride. The ending makes me feel both happy and lost. It is the hardest time to say goodbye. Maybe only a trailer of new game will make it less emotional. Anyway, love Haley love this game and thank you Viitgames
