On that note of "community content" I guess.
I've already wrote a "fanfiction" story catered to my tastes with endings too. All of them except one have a "wholesome" element to it, but a running theme and a twist add a sort of "perverse" layer I guess. It still needs more connective tissue to complete work, but the general draft has almost all the story arcs in place, I need to solve the final act and conclusion.

What's the best way to deal with the randomly spawn dark colored enemies?

First few runs you are incentivized to not take too long on a floor, as these enemies are tougher and spawn more frequent i think.
Later, when you have a lot of strenght, they don't pose any threat anymore.

Also maybe a hint as i made an error in the beginning: Don't start "new game" once you found the last floor, but always save and load the last game, else you won't keep your stats.

I used to always start a new game ...

Does not crash for me, BUT freezes for quite some time (10-15seconds) going from none to first AA mode. I have the feeling it is worse at higher resolutions (feeling = i don't care enough to test and time everything).
So maybe try to set first to low resolution and maybe windowed mode, then change AA.
