It is definitely possible that someone gets very sick, even multiple times. But it’s not very likely that this plague seems to disproportionately affect people who make porn games, largely anonymously, on a medium where it’s very easy to abuse the consumer. You can make a good product and still abuse the consumer. If he stretched himself too thin and can no longer handle the workload, then he needs to tell his patrons that. Oh, but that might cause some to stop supporting...
The fact alone that he put this current excuse behind a paywall is itself pretty telling, after his last excuse of the same kind a few months ago was called out by a follower/patron and he responded very defensively.
To be fair, if it's the comment and response I'm thinking of, the comment was basically, "You're probably lying" which if you say to somebody's face, they're not going to like it. But the response wasn't great, especially the grand (And almost certainly badly calculated) claim of being super reliable because of very few "missed releases."
Honestly, though, the bigger issue for me that continually makes me nervous is how these posts never happen during a delay (Even the current incident seems to be a delay, a post saying it was over, then another delay), only after. We can't know Ker's situation, maybe he's getting hospitalized every single time he gets sick due to a condition or exceptionally weak immune system or something. There's nothing you can do to really prove or disprove that, as creator or player. But even the cheapest Tracfones these days have browser capabilities, so you'd think in those cases sooner or later he'd go, "I'm stuck in this bed for another couple weeks, might as well update my Patreon/Blog with the reason." Or give one of the people that works with him on it ability to post on the blog to keep information flowing. The lack of transparency and long periods without posts are getting increasingly worrying, and just looks so exceptionally bad.
And making the last post explaining the delay Patron-only (Not even the first time he's done it, though the first time for a major delay, I think) looks so, so much worse.
