That's like someone asking if they could take over your bank savings because you haven't added to it in a while. If you understand why people aren't entitled to your investments, then apply that logic to a project you've invested time into.

i think having some one else take over wold be harder then anything because you do not know where the dev was going with it. you could ask them but i do not think they will tell you lol

Anyone that's happy to take over another person's work without permission isn't going to give two shits about what the dev wants or originally planned.

i'm still playing some older version sometimes. i liked the old artwork.
Same. I recall that I was quite sad when they changed Yeon (I believe it was her name) to be tanned and blonde, like a Gyaru. Completly lost the charm it had before.

I'm not against diversity, but many fans were attached to it already.

I mean the fans could always not like were the dev was originally going to take it as well. if someone else were to take over i feel it would do better if they took it in the direction they wanted because then they would be invested. fans are finicky no matter what.

I think the phrase people are looking for is 'spiritual successor.' IIRC Harem Collector was itself the spiritual successor to another ancient indie eroge- something about a dude getting ship wrecked and finding an oddly convenient mind control ring? And the protagonist is pretty much a generic store brand Rance.

Nothing presented in the game is much of an original idea. Considering the dude collected money- even today his patreon estimates 600 USD per month- to create this game he really does have an obligation to either see it through or hand it off to someone who will.

I don't mind if someone wants to make a similar game, but it can't be so close that you take a single glance and say "yeah, that looks like a rip off of another game." Don't get me wrong, I like some of Nergal's games. A Zombie's Life (which I'm guessing has been r7'd for some reason) was good enough that someone else ripped that off, hiring the same artist and everything. Urban Demons for me was an incoherent mess. The game that it was ripping off was bad enough that it didn't even need to piggy back off its character designs, story, or fan following. In a similar sense, Zombie's Retreat was decent enough that they really didn't need the same artist or setup. It felt unnecessary to me. I even avoided it for a while because the start and character roles/relationships/recruitment was too similar.
