This is why I have become really selective about supporting any new developers. They get an idea, and usually try to make a go of it by themselves, then find that they cannot keep up with the work load. Then turn around abandon one game, then decide to start another game.

I told myself when I took my break, if I didn't finish the prologue remaster for HDW in a year, then I wouldn't continue it. I would work on it here or there throughout the year, but as you can see, there is nothing. It's a little sad to think this project is most likely never coming back. It was my first attempt at making a game, and I really overestimated how much work goes into it. I learned a lot in the time I spent making it. If you would look at the first release vs the last update, there is a major quality improvement. Which is why I wanted to redo the majority of the work I've already done. I probably only did 2/3rds of the prologue within the last year, and that would be close to 10 minutes of gameplay. Had I stuck to it, and powered through, I probably could have released the remaster early this year. I just had no motivation to do it. I never really had an end goal with this game. I just wanted to throw in a new girl with every update, and add in some more story events. I genuinely do not think I will be continuing work on this project. I know there were people who were hopeful, but I think this is the end.
But, it won't be the complete end. I have been coming up with a new idea. An actual isekai harem story with a vast amount of different types of races and monster girls. It would most likely be a linear visual novel, with choices that could actually affect the outcome of things. It will be a story heavy game, with a fully fleshed out world. And obviously yeah, hot scenes and hot characters. It's called The 1 Year Harem. Now I am taking my time with this, figuring out all the fundamentals before I even start. The earliest you could possibly see a release, not until next year. The only thing I have is some story progress, and a handful of character designs. If you're wondering what kind of VN, think of something like What A Legend, or Summertime Saga, with character sprites for dialogue and story scenes, and animated cutscenes for the spicy stuff. And I think I'll step away from a sandbox world, as this would be a linear type of story with choices. I'll make another post sometime soon, probably before the year ends, better explaining what I want from this new project.
I'm sorry for the bad news to you all that wanted HDW to continue, but I hope you look forward to The 1 Year Harem. Also I'm going to keep the patreon paused until something worth subbing for comes out.
