It all depends on the players' preferences and the writer's ability, a long-winded slow-burn story can be great, especially if the writer can meaningfully and continuously develop the characters, world-building and general plot, if all of those are at a stand still, it doesn't matter how long the work is because it's just spinning in circles...so it's better?
..right?
