I think you're missing the point with Kali. She has trouble getting off from toys (and from MC at first) because she's trying to be totally in control. But she is actually very submissive/masochistic and gets off from the MC taking control away from her. She just doesn't realize it at first. See her last exhibition scene as an example of how she acts after she realizes she enjoys being dominated.

I switched over to DejaVuSans which I'm fairly sure isn't installed on my system (it isn't in the fonts folder anyway)

Yeah, that is one of the best parts of this game. And that is my favorite scene in the game, that whole event was cracking me up! Seeing Maria all shy for a bit was too much!

Yeah, there are a few disconnects like that some times, partly based on the way some scenes are based on story, others are based on this stat or that.

As for the days, it's not about the day so much as it is about what you have done so far. If you don't raise their stats and do their events, it could take forever to get anywhere. Most of the time that shower issue for me was that the scene was just not in the game yet, like currently for Autumn where she will now do things with you in her room and getting closer on a few things, she still isn't ready to shower with us. But it's all about how you like to play, I like to get grind up a lot of the stats when they are unlocked before I do more story stuff, but others like to skip that and do as much story as they can as soon as possible.
