In addition to the impression we get of him from his first appearance and from the letter, I've picked up a few things from what others have said of the contest itself; apparently he's a hypocrite who doesn't even obey his own rules regarding elves, taking advantage of the fact that he's the one who gets to decide if an elf is being mistreated or not. That makes it sound like he gave them the rights he did not because he has a conscience, but to try and appease those who do. Not a great sign.
The idea of anything good coming of it seems kind of ridiculous to me; if people had opposed slavery by trying to show slavers the error of their ways in real life, it would still be around. Even accepting that winning the contest would make some kind of difference, you've indicated that the player can also lose, in which case he just dismisses you as a crazy person. Given that, clearly winning the contest and changing his mind is not required for the story going forwards.

damn that event, I totally know what you mean. I could bring myself to finally do it on day ~160 or so (but I was also bored and wanted to see something new...), skiped through everything as good as I could and almost died when I saw a specific person there. After all I'm still alive and waiting for new content^^

When I finished with everything 0.5 had to offer, I picked another game to play. If I'm going to play a game with that sort of content, I'd rather be the one having fun than the one getting humiliated.

I am actually kind of surprised people don't like the cornwall event, nobody has spoken up about it since a week or so ago, haha.

Which one? Do you mean Autumn's story as a whole? You need to buy the second floor, and wait until she comes in.

I'm really not sure if I should continue to drive this conversation forward, but here it goes.

He is not a hypocrite, and he does decide who gets to keep Elves. He has put it into law that you can not abuse a slave, that was his decision. So if you abuse a slave, he/his program takes that Elf away.

To abuse an Elf, one or more of the following must be true. You have beaten her, caused her intentional pain (emotional or physical), or have forced yourself on her.

That's not the full list, so I don't really want to get into a debate over that, too. Cornwall is a man of his word, so actually, he's the opposite of a hypocrite.

Anyway, this topic has dragged on way too much than it needs to.

It depends. I don't think you or I are able to tell what friendship you should be at, so you have two options.

1. Restart the game entirely
2. use the maxall code to set every character's friendship to their maximum as of v0.4 (This means you will likely miss out on almost all of the content in the game)

It pops up on your screen once you have completed all the current content for each character.

Yes, I've seen and remember the "all done!" popup, but it's been a month or more since I played this and I don't recall who I have completed and who I still need to read.

I guess the best thing you can do is go to each of the characters and see if new dialogues show, meaning more content for the character.

You can have Lin call you daddy if you want, if you tell her that the first time you meet her the reactions of her and Ellen are great.
