Excuse my ignorance but... why there's people supporting this guy? I mean, he's taking/stealing the most of the content from Honey Select. I'm not sure this could be so much...legal/ethic.
Hey, but if many people doesn't care about this... no problem. This guy is a genius, I guess.

Seriously dude. Come on. There's so much wrong with your post I don't even know where to begin or how to tackle it without sounding incredibly insulting and condescending.

Have you actually played the game and read the story / dialogue, or did you just look at the preview screenshots and say "Hur durr Honey Select bad"?

Enlighthen me, please.

Honestly, I've played about 15 minutes. More than enough to see where all the material come from. I'm not saying "Hur durr Honey Select bad" it's just... I'm supporting several devs. I always though that my money will help the devs to pay the bills and give them resources to keep doing their projects.
People can spend their money in whatever they want. I'm not here to tell them how to spend their money lol. It's hard to me to understand why this is worth of support. If you tell me, the story/plot is soooooo good. Well, you're giving me a reason, but still the graphics are not made by the dev or by anyone the dev hired. So he doesn't own the rights of the game he's developing. Copyright is from Illusion. If the game, even though obtaining the visual part from Honey Select it's soo damn good, why don't you hire a 1 or 2 good modelers and make your own game with your own 3d models? Because it's harder? Because it's more time consuming?

And it also makes me wonder, how many of their patrons know that the animations and characters are from a Japanese game. Perhaps Illusion is fine with it? Don't know, I'm just asking.

If what this guy/dev is doing is ok (by reasons that I unknown right now), then as I said before. He's a genius. Minimal effort Max profit.

It's sort of like how you are allowed to write a letter using a word processor and not get dinged for 'stealing' from the devs who made it.

Honey Select is an application specifically designed to have you pose and export assets for use elsewhere. Runey is staying within the terms and conditions of its use.

That's what I wanted to know. Thanks. My respects to this dev.

are there any scenes with Kate yet implemented in the game?
Yes! A couple!

I've answered this question a lot, so I apologize if I sound annoyed.

A lot of people, especially from the Illusionsoft discord server, have no understanding of how this works. Honey Select was designed with a scene maker, it's called "NEO". What it does is allow you to make your own scenes for whatever you'd like. Illusion has literally put in an engine in all of their games to help people make their own content.

I have talked to Fakku and asked them myself if I need to purchase a liscense, or if what I'm doing is okay. They said "As long as you're not reselling any of illusion's assets, you're fine." This means I can't sell Harem Hotel on steam.

The three most popular ways of developing a porn game are though DAZ, Honey Select, and 2D drawings. DAZ is just like Honey Select. So if you want to get rid of Honey Select, you get rid of DAZ. Now 95% of all porn games are gone.

You seem to think I put on a suit and tie every day and take an elevator up to my new york office and tell all of my employees to start working on Ashley's next story. I'm just a dude with a dream to make games, and a great world. Porn is also great.

I don't have the money or know how to hire anyone at the moment. I don't know how to run a company, I don't know how to do those taxes. I also tell everyone that this game is made in honey select. It's on my patreon page and even in the game. I've even gotten others to try to make games in honey select or koikatsu.

Please don't assume the worst in people.

With the success of Harem Hotel, I'll be able to develop my own 100% unique stuff. 3D animating may be a bit too expensive for me at the moment, but I would absolutely love to get off of the very limiting Honey Select NEO and on to Unity, or Unreal Engine 4.

(The only devs I can think of off the top of my head that make their own 3D content would be Adeptus Steve and Redamz. From what I understand, you think only those two devs, and devs like them, should be supported. That's 99% of all porn games gone)

Thanks for the reply. Understand that many players could react as I did, so I'm afraid you'll be receiving more comments of this kind eventually. It's just... since Patreon came out, I've found several creators with "error 404 ethic not found".
If Fakku is ok with what you're doing and you're not selling the game, then I see you're not doing anything wrong. Just keep at it.

Honey Select models can also be customized to an extent. I'm not saying that's what's going on, I honestly have no idea what kind of model editing Runey does, if any, but I haven't seen any of the HH models used anywhere else, unlike say...practically every crappy fast-buck Russian game that uses the same huge-tittied weird bun-hairstyle model as the "mom" or "aunt".
Yeah, all of the characters are 100% unique. I don't start with any premade cards.

The above is the default girl most girls come from, like Kali, Lin, Ashley, Maria, etc. Android, Felicity & Emma were made from Ashley's model, and Autumn's was made from Maria's model.

Hopefully not as the search function at the top of the page works well and a search using the word "materials" helped me find at least two instances were Runey already answered this.

And, quite frankly, I think the vast majority of players don't give a rat's ass where the material came from. I know, as a layman, that there are two primary modelling software packages that VN developers use for this and even that level of information does nothing to help me enjoy the game.

So I feel like chiming in on this current topic and making some general statements and/or opinions for myself.

I don't think the vast majority of players give a rat's ass where the material came from.
I definitely don't care. I've played at least 100 games I've downloaded from this website and I don't give a shit where the dev's get their models from. With that said, they have to grab my attention to click on the link on the latest updates page. I usually look for VN and Ren'py tags occasionally I'll check it out if it says Unity. Then I look at banner art. I am more likely to click on Dazed models but not always. If they look really generic I may skip them as some devs have raised the bar pretty high for in game renders. Honey Select I check out a bit less because the percentage of generic to unique characters tends more towards generic. Then I'll look at tags and plot synopsis.

If a game got through all that I'll give it a try. I'd say about 25% of the time I'll quit playing before I'm very far into it and delete the game. Story or gameplay driving me away. That's it. I won't come and bash a dev in a thread because I didn't like their game. I just move on and look for something else to play.

As for dev's in general I don't think they have any obligation to give 2 shits about what anyone says (patron or not) on a pirate sight. They don't owe us anything here. However, the ones that do engage with us I appreciate because they don't have to and Runey is one of the best. He/she is very prolific in this thread. Very friendly and very helpful. At no point have I thought they were trying to milk any money from anyone. They are giving us a quality game with great, content filled updates in a timely manner. I've got 240+ in game days played in this game to get all the current content. It could probably be shorter if I started over and maximized every thing I did but I played to have fun and not speed run a porn game. Runey isn't phoning it in. They are working hard and giving us a fantastic game.

Everyone is entitled to voice their opinions about this but I don't think anyone who has played this game for multiple hours could honestly say that Runey cheated them out of time or money.

The only thing I don't like to see is the same models used over and over, like many Daz games. At least all of Runey's characters are unique, even the ones based on other characters, and the story is enjoyable (for most of us anyway). Not to mention, he tries to include a little something for almost everyone.

In a world where I end up dropping so many games that keep taking an unpleasant turn, from netorare to forced monogamy, this game remains one of my favorites.

I HIGHLY suggest you NOT do this. Just look at the shit show that is Midnight Paradise. Dreams of Desire was one of the best games on here. He finished it, and moved to Midnight Paradise. He switched from Ren'Py to Unity. And was late with a giant buggy mess. He finally gave up on Unity and switched back to Ren'Py. He just released the 2nd Ren'Py release, and is starting to get back the goodwill he lost with the clusterfuck that was the first 2 versions.

If this game only used generic daz models it would be a 5 star game instead of a terrible 4.9 star game.

The only time I car about where the content comes from is when other developers are blatantly ripping off characters/models from other games and using it just changing their hair color or whatever.
