There's a lot more ways for things to go wrong in Unity compared to Ren'Py, but there's also a lot more you can do in Unity compared to Ren'Py. I'd agree not recommending someone swapping to Unity with no prior experience, and feel your post is blaming Unity more than the developers lack of experience working on the engine.I HIGHLY suggest you NOT do this. Just look at the shit show that is Midnight Paradise. Dreams of Desire was one of the best games on here. He finished it, and moved to Midnight Paradise. He switched from Ren'Py to Unity.
It all comes down to what Runey wishes to create. Have no doubt he'd manage to create quality content on either engine.
