Considering the course that the game has been heading, the slave route will likely have an ending that is not as good as the love route will have.

Wait what? the devs are planning to remove the ability to be mean to slaves?
I think there are cheat codes to change between slave and love route for elves.
Since basically the main story is being developed around the MC helping the evles to end their slavery... The slave route would make little sense storywise.
Like it is now you can enslave your elves while still acting like their allied in the civil war...
Yeah, it would not make a lot of sense to have that route, once the game is closer to being done, the only reason it is there, is so that people who don't want to wait, can have sex scenes with them early.
Personally, I would like to have an in-game way to switch them back to the love route later. That way they can merge them together.
That'd be nice, while I enjoy the game I'm not really too keen on starting over all things considered.
Every time I see the changelog it's just remaking the old event and some other useless minigame stuff. Can't he focus on making new content? And it took him a year for each version, is he a friend of DPC or something? Looking at the 1-2 new events per character, I don't even bother re-downloading it.

This was not an update, just a bug fix patch, that happened to include some new content for the garden.

By political correctness reasons i suppose. I hope im wrong.
I really hope to not see social justice crap in this game, at least more than we already have in the game.
Im here to fap in an adult game, not to be taught about some woke content crap.
The story is about freeing the slaves, it is not about being 'woke', it is about plot. It makes no sense for a guy trying to free the slaves to be a dick to his.
Being a dick to them is one thing.
Feeding dick to them is another thing entirely an I'm very much for it.
Hmm I'm actually writing a story just like this... it makes sense - the character just has to be a hypocrite or just be one of those guys who recognizes injustice and have empathy for the victims, but because they can take advantage anyway, just do. It's perfectly realistic and makes sense.
Too bad he doesn't want that.
There are loads of foster parents who rape their children for example, or people who pretend to help Ukrainian refugees but end up raping them, or all the priests who preach against sin all day only to be a rapist. Shit sure is common.

Some of the early in-game options were from a time when the game was more sandbox and the MC had virtually no personality beyond getting laid. The last few updates, the MC has discovered he has an opinion of his own - separate from what choices we might have opted for earlier game.
One of those opinions is that he doesn't care for slavery. So now, in retrospect, the option to buy slaves and actually treat them as such doesn't make sense. I don't know if Runey has specifically said he plans to remove it, but I know several of us have theorized it'll happen simply because it no longer makes sense narratively to have it.
The option to buy slaves early on makes lots of sense for the plot. He's new in the country, he's following customs, he's outright given one slave and an ex-slave is his secretary. Then he learns more about how slavery is done, starts to dislike it all, meets fucking Trello, etc etc.
I agree that there should be the option to switch from mean slaver route to nice slaver route, though. THAT would complete the bit above. Progress in Lin's storyline far enough, or something like that and you can be like "oh shit, my bad, I bought into this whole corrupt system. Now that I know more about you and your culture, I shouldn't have been doing this shit."
Actually, wait, looking at the state of the world today, that's super unrealistic, aint it?

A slaver, whether they are nice or cruel is still a slaver.
When the story is completed, and the elves are all freed the nice slaver will still be seen as a slaver, because they owned slaves...
They supported the system of slavery, by treating those elves as slaves.
Buying the elves and then giving them a home and protecting them, while at the same time not treating them as slaves, will pay off massively when the elves have been freed.
Rather than being seen as a slaver the MC will be seen as a hero.
well, with the way the story is going, it does make sense to remove slavery options, but what this really translates to me is not enough resources to make a slavery path story; obviously because it would completely deviate from the current path.

It could be done, but why bother?
The slaver route would be a dead end route with a bad outcome for the MC (player) since the now former slaves will all hold a grudge against the MC for treating them as slaves.
Also there is this factor.
Harem Hotel has multiple releases to go before the end.
Harem Hotel is already a huge visual novel at over 12Gb's in size.
Ditching the slave route can reduce the overall size of the game.
And since the slavery route would have a bad ending, it makes sense to get rid of it.
