If there's something wrong with your save, maybe. Otherwise you shouldn't need to. Once you've been introduced to the broken garden by Lin, upgrade/fix it with Ellen, then Lin's follow up event you should just have to do a couple events in the city to unlock the seed shop. Then you'll need to work on Jin's story which is a bit random.
If any of those haven't happened, then the garden will likely be blocked off until finished. Even without Jin, you should still be able to garden once the other requisites have been completed. Only need Jin to take over to finish her events. The city events seem to be one of the bigger hold ups, as you have to find the npc twice.
You probably still need to go into the garden, and click on the back gate.
Most of his updates are big, they also tend to include a number of remade events from the early game.
Though, personally, I am not a big fan of starting over.

It's just that my saves are gone and since I didn't have any backup that I have to play from the beginning again.
Anyone know why I'm suddenly unable to save using esc or right click? I can't save at all actually. It just hides the text box and UI when I press either.
Edit: Got the bottom of the screen buttons to show but when I press save, nothing pops up. What the hell is happening?

I'm not either but given the time between updates plenty of time to start a new game if want to.Most of his updates are big, they also tend to include a number of remade events from the early game.

Do you know what will happens if Lin's internal head pats counter overrun? Will it then goes to -1/2 max value? Will this break Lin? Will Lin become insane cause she has less than zero head pats?
It's a good thing I spread them around then. I usually give each girl one of each (headpat, hug, and kiss), each shift. So 3 a day each. Sometimes I miss some due to an event, other times I will make up for that by doing 2-3 each... lol
They add up fast. XD
