Shouldn't it be "Harem Blade" instead of "Harlem Blade" ?

The Japanese title reads "Haremu Bureido", so I'm not sure if this translation is reliable.
ハーレム isn't the same as ハレム tho. [edit: it seems like they have been using the two words interchangeably nowadays, but "harlem" was the japanese devs' original intention] That said, the translation does seem to be a bit weird. Haven't tried it yet since I'm waiting for someone to confirm if there are any animations in this project.

Holy cow... that translation is unplayable.

Not only is the translation itself horrible, but half the text is just jumbled unreadable font, and multiple different people are jammed in the same text box randomly.

Man I miss the way anime was drawn so much. The 90s has such a distinct style.

But its fan translated but why is the last image clearly MTL?

Also where's the first game?

Fan translation sadly doesn't automatically mean better, for some they use the MTL as a base and then try and mould it into more understandable English, haven't played this yet so I couldn't say whether this falls under that category.
[VN] - [Others] - [Completed] Harlem Blade ~The Greatest of All Time.~ [v1.04] [Giga] | F95zone
This is the prequel and is also a fan translation that wasn't much better than a MTL or at least that's based off the comments.

For those with Font warping problems...
Did you try running with JP locale ?
As in many cases the main reason for font warp is that.

Yeah it's not a font warping it's more of an incorrect font.. My system is in Japanese unicode mode so no need to change for my games. Screen shot attached shows how fonts are incorrect for quotes and such.

BTW I run it in windows mode by using DXWND if you want to run in windowed mode.

Yep seems to be a font without support for Unicode characters.
I'll try to take a look here and if possible instruc for a font swap

Wouldn't adding ー just cause the a in "ha" to be pronounced as a long vowel.
At least I don't see how that could add an L into the name but on the other hand I'm not Japanese.

Alright after taking a better look it more like the translator or the patch itself had problems when ending phrases or skipping for next lines paired with a software incompatible with Unicode Characters.
So symbols like 「」。、…!will likely cause problems.

If you can get your hands on the text files it can be fixed.
If someone can manage to extract the tpf files and is able to import it back I can take a look.
This is as far as I can go to help.

IIRC it was marketed under that title in the west by importers in a translation fuckup, and the translator has decided to preserve that fuckup basically because they want to.
I have no idea why, but there were many different games, mainly Japanese but not only, that used word "Harlem" instead of harem. Is this some kind of common typo?

Wow, blast from the past. Those long gone days when I was able to masturbate on animated portrait of naga heroine in warcraft 3. Even then I was horny pervert :sneaky:

Im now feel myself way to old than Im actually are.

Basically it looks like there are two different forms of harem-as-a-loanword in japanese, and one of them is both a form of harem-as-a-loanword and ALSO the japanese word for the neighborhood Harlem. So Harlem is theoretically *A* correct translation of the title but also obviously wrong if you're paying any attention to it.

(It's also coincidentally one of two forms for the Dutch city of Haarlem, but the second form is distinct and does not also translate to Harem or Harlem or anything else)

The translation is one step above a MTL. Wouldn't be surprised if this was someone's attempt at cleaning up a machine translation, there's some dialogue that straight is still in JP, although the only examples I've seen are from nameless NPCs.

Also pro-tip, don't change your graphics setting to Vram, it'll make the game unplayably slow.

Actually on my Radeon RX 5600 XT it sped it up quite decently.

I'm pretty sure English isn't actually the Translator's first language, which would both easily produce something that looks a lot like an MTL.
