I'm afraid that the changes to the font and/or background colour are expressions of how the UI dev approached the theme. It's most likely that I'll need to implement an entirely new help screen that utilizes the mechanisms of the visible UI.

Nah. This isn't one of those games where the instant you decide she's not gonna be an LI she disappears. Besides which, this scene still happens pre-diner; the chapter still has one more opportunity for MC to change his mind about her affections. Frenzone Patricia is still going to be friendly with MC because she and Nikki are besties.
