It's not mandatory, you can date as few or as many girls as you want.

Unlike BW, there's only three endings planned (with some variants depending on choices). So while you can go solo with each LI, you aren't going to have a different unique ending for each. And none of the girls will be exclusively solo; they can all optionally be in a harem/polycule with appropriate choices. That's what Slockie meant.

I've mentioned this before, but I expect a 'sad' ending, a 'bittersweet' ending, and a 'happy' ending.

It just means that all the main girls are there for the whole story (unlike in BW) As Rehwyn said, there will only be 3 endings. You just choose the ones you want to have a romantic relationship with.

It's like Bare Witness except you're dating Heidi but Zenda doesn't completely disappear. She'll be around for plot sake but not for romance if you're just solo with someone else.

So applied to Heaven's Door, yes you can just date Patricia solo. (eventually, when there's more of the story, unless she gets killed off or something, which is unlikely). The girls you don't date will still be around for their place in the plot.

Storm actually already chimed in on that exact Slockie quote.

While Slockie is technically correct that there are no "solo" paths in the game, in reality it's more of a "there's no devoted solo paths that force you to make choices about staying with that single character." You can actually go solo with any one of the LIs in the game if that's what you'd like.

As for bisexual girls, while there are a few in the game, most of the LIs this time around are heterosexual. I believe only four of the currently planned LIs are bi or bi-curious. Might be five, I'm not 100% sure on that and would have to check our settings bible to make sure. (I have a shit memory, which is half the reason we have a bible in the first place.)

I'm normally a solo path guy. Harems don't make much sense to me, in most scenarios but in this case the MC doesn't know he's in a story and will probably be fine. As far as he knows, he's got two years to live and will probably spend part of that time in hospice care unable to get out of bed or feed himself. That's why he went to a erm ... gentlemen's club instead of a dating site. He's not looking for a special someone to spend the rest of his life with (he had that and it didn't go well). He's just looking to have some fun on his way out the door, so at least until something changes with his health, a harem makes total sense.

I'm not speculating, but essentially paraphrasing exactly what the devs have said here and in Discord.

Heaven's Door is a full harem game which makes it very different from BaDIK-style, but it's an "optional" one in that you choose which LIs are part of the harem (even a "harem of one" for a solo path if you want). There may be some exclusive scenes that you have to choose between (such as the dates in Chapter 2), but there will not be exclusive LIs. If you want, you can have a path that includes every single LI, but probably not every scene in a single playthrough.

It will play a bit differently than many "full harem" games though, as Storm has explained here and on Discord.
