I am going to have to respectfully disagree with the developer here. While she's working tirelessly on remastering her renders to make it look better, I'd encourage you to go ahead and download the current game and give it a shot.

1st -- its just three chapters. You can probably play through the 3 chapters (the first time) in less than an hour and you will get to see what the fuss is all about...

2nd -- BELIEVE ME.... you are going to play it through again, making different choices. And again, making different choices.... and then again, trying to break the system... and again, "for reals". Now you have gotten 3 hours of fun out of an hours worth of content.

3rd -- You will now have a frame of reference for "most" of what is discussed here... i say "most" because it can go off the rails fairly easily, but that is the other amazing part that the game itself created a little community of fellow travelers that kind of check in with each other daily, hourly, minute-Ly? with each other just "cause".

4th -- The new renders are going to make it sexier - but the content/story isn't changing, so when It does come out, you can oooh and ahhhh with the rest of us and not feel like the noob.

Welcome aboard, now go get started!
Almost all right except for the timings... I recently played through just one route (to test an android version) and it took me close to four hours. Of course, depending on your reading times and how much you investigate, your timings might be different. But unless you skip through loads of text or mash the space bar (really not recommended) it's way more time than an hour (Notty mentioned around three hours for the first three chapters) just to get through once without rolling back and trying a different route. :)

PS I would recommend waiting for the remaster though, it's not far off and based on some of the shiny we've already been shown, it'll be well worth the wait!

Reading speed average is thought to be 200 to 300 words a minute. So take the amount of words in the game, do the math and you have something close to how long it might take, this does not include any time taken to weigh decisions or choose paths. It also doesn't include or break down on which path you may be taking, reloading to not die, etc.

Ha
My timing is always off!

Do we have a "hard date" yet of when the next ver drops? If it is less than a week, Ok, I'll acquiesce and say, "wait".

But if it is MORE than a week, I'll stand by my do it now.
Hard to say on the one hand it would likely be wise to wait for the new shiny, on the other hand by waiting you would miss out on the game we fell in love with and after the remaster that first version will likely be hidden deep and far away.

Edit: after the remaster there will be a way more polished version that will look better overall, but there is also a charm in the current version, where you see Notty developing with every chapter. That part will be lost unfortunately, so for me in a way, just that makes the current version not to be missed in a way and I will miss it a bit when gone.

That well may be the average, but Notty is a helpful dev and has written it slowly, for those who can't read that fast. ;)

There won't be a hard date. No more deadlines.

I think the remaster ETA would be at the end of the month, but I wouldn't dare put my words in Notty's mouth View attachment 402743
My estimate (which is worth nothing, mind ya) is early October as the scale of the remaster grows. If Notty can make it earlier, great, if not, great as well, because that's what it will be regardless. :)

It really depends on the preferences. I would recommend it immediately to anyone who cares the most about the quality of the story, writing, characters, humour, choice based gameplay...etc. This is a gem not to be missed.

But to those for whom render quality or lewd content are priority, I would advise to wait. First impression matters and with the remaster it is sure to be better.

As for the charm of the old renders? I don't think that is much of a factor for a new player, if there are only two or three weeks (for example) left until the remaster. I've been here for over eight months, you for two months (if I'm not mistaken). We've had time to grow attached to it so to speak.:)

I guess that is what I was hinting at when I asked if there was a "hard date" for the new ver.... I suspected it was in the "you will get it when I am good and ready" column, which is why I chose to respectfully disagree, and would encourage anyone to play it now, and play it later.

That way we can legitimately get in on the "I was a fan before the re-master" Merch.

Already got my version backed up! It'll be worth a mint someday!
Only problem: it doesn't come with an official physical sleeve. But, I think I got that covered.
Just cut a CD sleeve from a Jaffa Cakes package, insert a CD-ROM with the Heavy Five Original zip file, close the edges with tape, and write nothing but the version number on it with a black waterproof marker. Should look legit.
Notty totes won't be reading this, and won't consider the idea as a "highest tier" reward, but the newbs won't know that.

Actually played chapter 1 and 2 the day they were released here, just took me till chapter 3 to really fall for the game. The potential was there already before though so it was on my to watch list.

She is a non com officer and on a civ station. She and mike are essentially the same rank. Just one is civ other is mil.
Is it a civilian base? The exploration is military, it is all military assets, it is supplied by military and it was rejected as colony. I always saw it as a military research base manned with civilian specialists. Why would a Military Ensign be assigned to a civilian base to run comms?

EDIT Marcus was annoyed that military cut off certain research paths and threatened Chris with a negative report if she didn't complete her mission ASAP.

How's it hanging cool kids?
Damn it cool kids get all the attention AGAIN *sulks in corner*

Hey guys,

Will do my best to run through and answer posts as best as I can tomorrow. As you can imagine hugely busy at the mo :)

But look....

Vanny!.png

vs
land88.jpg

As the well as the obvious better composition and dustcloud from kicking the engines on (not bad, eh? :) ), the landing pad has had a makeover with the rescaling done much better (ever wondered why the rails were so high? It was because the asset was too small and I was crap at faffing with them...). Also redid the surface so it won't look so bad in closeup and dirtied it up for wear and tear. Oh, and better lighting for shine and shadows and Vanny loses her missiles for common sense purposes on re-entry (again, I didn't know how to knock stuff off assets before)

Remastering the shit out of it. Well, as best as I can on an etch-a-sketch :)
