OK, so I'm a fan of Boda games as long as I can keep myself occupied during the ridiculously extensive wait periods between significant updates (ToT FL7 anyone? Anyone?) So I just started playing Heelfall like 2 weeks ago (and I still have a 40+ hour work week.)
At first I was like WOW this is a really slick system, though I was certain they'd sniped the mechanics off of other game. Not a big deal, it's tough to be truly original nowadays. Patreon accounts are just fine, but charging money for a broke-ass game like this as a professional finished product? The idea is offensive to me as a person who's never made a game.
I don't want to be TOO negative, So I'll say that I REALLY like the scaling EXP based on levels. That's something I've wished for in RPGM. No way should a character who can deliver hundreds of damage points get the same EXP for killing a 5HP Slime as a character who takes 3 turns to kill the same slime. I REALLY like the environment.evs file, which I assume acts like an autosave for the overall game, keeping track of the Game Over scenes you've had for the purpose of recalling the svenes in your Memory gallery.
Other than the fact that I'm an avid fan of many of the fetishes presented, I can't give it too many kudos as a game on account of all the glitches and exploits which could have easily been addressed through sufficient playtesting.
Players and enemies can occupy the same space. This is WTF? kind of bug but isn't necessarily a bad thing when it's appropriate, eg. when my MC is on Charlotte's throne and has 210/220HP because of special items. I've had her sitting on my face for 20 turns while I regenerate all my HP after surviving her initial attack. Kinda cool but not realistic that she has no clue if I'm KO'd or recovering to full strength.
Obviously, there's the Sally Forth exploit, where you can send your squad unarmed into the fight. As long as they have DEF of at least 13 and you have access to patience, and either your Convoy or a good supply of Throwing Axes or Tomahawks for Warren whp can hang out in the water out of enemy range, you can gain 1XP per non-damaging attacks per up to 12 enemies per turn until their weapons fail (40XP/archer... more for enemies who don't degrade their weapons when they miss.) We're talking a minimum of 4 levels for 3 characters for just standing there withstanding attacks from enemies so weak that they do no damage.
I'm all for having quests/chapters be repeatable, but FFS, make them consistent and not so eploitable. I'm playing through with the Eva exploit (where you muddle through to survive Chapter 2 Interception and obtain Eva as a party member ASAP) where you can OP Eva due to her non-degrading weapon. You go through multiple quests, leveling up Eva so that she can easily murder all your opponents to farm Grand Swords, Brave Spears, Silver Axes, Tomahawks, Steel Bows, Killer Bows and any/every other weapon/item you can get from any quest/chapter before she betrays you (most expected plot twist EVA) and ELIMINATE the entire mechanical spectrums of degrading weapons, available weapons for purchase and monetary restrictions.
I can have Eva IN THE SQUAD going through Chapter 2 where Eva first shows up. Yeah, 2 Evas on the same board. Then I can have Eva defeat the last surviving enemy, Jeanne (almost called her "What's-her-face") as the last surviving party member and get an utterly disjointed maggot-scuzz-fuckery of a sequence where I have LOST the Chapter to the Sellswords (unlocking the Special Trainig Koda-fest quest that can gift you 3 levels in less than 3 minutes with a very modest monetary loss amd no unique pics) and simultaneously WON the Chapter by defeating all enemies.
I mean... how do you have so little pride in what you're doing that you ALLOW your "finished" product to be so glaringly neglected, glitchy and unprofessional? Why would you THINK you deserve to be paid for such undisciplined efforts? I cannot accept that no playtesters reported what I've found in this short time and therefore I cannot accept that they gice a shit about the medium within which it is being released. This is supposed to be a game worth spending money on, not a fanfic "choose your own ending" projecr. As a product on the market, the Shamwow is superior... and it overtly informs you that it's a sham.
As a fan of many aspects of Femdom... I like it. but as a consumer... if I had paid any amount of money for it... I'd feel victimized. Spankbang can fulfill my needs just fine. If these guys (Boda) realized how close they are to being the primary suppliers of this type of content on their chosen platform and exercised anything resmbling a reasonable standard of quality control IRT their chosen platform, they'd make a LOT more money.
EDIT: Holy FUCK I wrote a lot more than I expected... must be the Jack and Cokes.
