My Thoughts on Hentaria Chronicles Chapter 2
First of all, I want to say that I
absolutely loved Hentaria Chronicles Chapter 2. The game has an original story, engaging characters, and a beautiful pixel art aesthetic. While some may find the lack of CGs disappointing, I personally think it adds charm, as the pixel animations are well-crafted and fit the game’s atmosphere.
The game is divided into three major parts:
1️⃣
Introduction – Setting up the world and characters.
2️⃣
Main Story – The core narrative, where conflicts develop.
3️⃣
Branching Paths – Leading to different endings (
NTR, Happy, Revenge, and True Endings).
As a fan of elf women, this game had everything to appeal to me. However, I believe it suffers from a
lack of key transitional events, especially before the branching point where Celis suddenly follows Noah and asks for forgiveness. Given the events that precede this moment, her actions feel
completely unconvincing and inconsistent.
Missing Confrontation Between Celis and Noah
One of the biggest issues is how Celis goes from
completely surrendering herself to Eydir and Zeno to suddenly wanting to follow Noah as if she had an epiphany. Prior to this, she:
- Repeatedly had sex with Eydir, Noah’s cousin and enemy, as well as Zeno, his uncle and the main antagonist who murdered his father.
- Betrayed Noah by revealing his plan to Zeno and Eydir, leading to his capture.
- Was forced to watch his mother and Celis being used as playthings by Zeno and Eydir, reinforcing the idea that he was utterly alone.
After this, in a scene where we see Noah walking through the corridor of his house, He
unexpectedly runs into Celis as she steps out of a room, with
Eydir right behind her. Shocked, she immediately tries to cover up the situation, telling Noah,
“It’s not what you think", despite the obvious circumstances.
Before Noah can respond,
Eydir calls out, asking who she’s talking to. The moment Celis turns to answer him,
Noah silently disappears, unwilling to confront the painful reality.
Shortly after,
Celis prepares to go to the bathhouse, and Eydir offers to join her. During their bath,
Eydir suggests that Celis make their relationship official so that Noah
stops clinging to false hope.
Celis appears hesitant, clearly thinking about Noah, but she
doesn’t reject the idea outright. Instead of denying Eydir’s proposal, she
remains silent, neither confirming nor rejecting it, and
continues having sex with him, fully indulging in the pleasure.
Sensing her hesitation,
Eydir pushes further, telling her
he wants to have a child with her. Though surprised,
Celis doesn’t outright refuse. Despite
Noah lingering in her thoughts, she
never denies the idea of being with Eydir, making it clear that, at the very least, she isn’t opposed to it.
Meanwhile, Noah, devastated,
withdraws into his room, sinking into despair.
Celis never once tries to speak to him, never checks on him, and shows no concern for his well-being.
Then,
out of nowhere, just as Noah decides to leave, Celis
suddenly regrets everything and wants to follow him. This is a major
plot hole. There should have been an
intermediate scene where she tries to talk to Noah, only for him to reject her completely.
Not only does she
never show remorse before this moment, but we don’t even know if she was aware that Noah saw her
having sex with Eydir. And if she
was aware, she should have been
far too ashamed to even speak to him, let alone ask to come with him "like the good old days".
How a Missing Scene Could Fix This
A proper confrontation scene would make her character arc
far more believable.
- Celis could try to speak to Noah, but he ignores her.
- When she insists, he finally snaps, telling her he knows everything about her and Eydir.
- She tries to justify herself, but Noah forces her to face the truth—that she betrayed him without hesitation, believing every lie Eydir and Zeno told her.
- Noah completely rejects her, telling her never to speak to him again and to go back to her lover.
- Celis breaks down in tears and runs away.
- Aywin then enters, and Noah confronts her too, calling her out for siding with Zeno, the man who murdered his father.
- Aywin, full of guilt, admits she’s lost control of herself, as she does in the game, and helps Noah escape.
After this, Celis could be shown in her room, crying, reflecting on all the times she
betrayed Noah, and realizing the full extent of the damage she caused. This would make her later actions feel
more genuine instead of coming out of nowhere.
The Problem with the Revenge Ending
The
Revenge Ending felt like it wasn’t really Noah’s revenge—but rather
Mórë’s. Instead of taking control of his fate, Noah
becomes a hollow shell, controlled and manipulated. Celis and Aywin
recognize this but only blame themselves internally, without truly expressing regret for what they did. Worse, Celis still seems
concerned about Eydir, despite knowing how much he deceived her just to sleep with her.
Celis even says she
hasn’t had sex since Eydir’s arrest and misses his cock, which is
infuriating considering everything Noah went through. She refuses to do with Noah the very things she
enthusiastically did with Eydir and Zeno, making the "revenge" feel completely hollow. Instead of
truly suffering for her betrayal, she just follows Noah's orders without any real emotional reckoning.
I really hope
Chapter 3 improves on this aspect, giving Leto (the MC of Ch.3) a
true revenge ending where he is
his own master instead of being anyone’s puppet.
Final Thoughts & Hopes for Chapter 3
Despite all my criticisms, I want to emphasize that I
absolutely loved Hentaria Chronicles Chapter 2 and still consider it a
masterpiece. My points are just my personal opinion, and I understand that other players may not feel the same way.
However, I
firmly believe that the game needs an
additional key event—a true
trigger for Celis’ realization—to make her actions
more believable. The scene where she
follows Noah in secret and asks to join him like before is completely
unconvincing.
Without this pivotal event,
Celis' sudden guilt feels entirely unconvincing. After
days of willingly sleeping with Eydir and Zeno, showing
no remorse, and unquestioningly
trusting their words over Noah’s, it makes absolutely
no sense for her to suddenly be overcome with regret.
If she truly had a change of heart, we should have seen her
struggle with guilt earlier. Instead, she spends
days indulging in pleasure, even
casually hooking up with Eydir in the hallway, before suddenly deciding she wants to be with Noah again.
This lack of transition makes
her redemption feel hollow and frustrating, especially since she never
made her relationship with Eydir official. What was she expecting from Noah after everything she did?
These inconsistencies make the final confrontation
even more necessary—Noah should have
acknowledged everything she did and
told her exactly why he can’t trust her anymore. Without that, her sudden clarity and desire to follow him feel forced.
I
truly hope Chapter 3 addresses these issues by:
✅ Giving the female characters
stronger emotional consequences for their actions.
✅ Providing the MC with a
real revenge ending where he isn’t a puppet.
✅ Adding
proper transitional scenes to make the story
more immersive and believable.
Even though I found these flaws frustrating, I still
loved the game and deeply appreciate the work that went into it. The story is compelling, and I look forward to seeing how the series continues.
