I had to google the reasoning behind their censorship after making the comment. And yeah, many Japanese men are just used to the censorship and prefer it. The decency law forcing the censorship is hilariously arbitrary though. Uncensored Vanilla porn? Indecent. Forced violent gangbang with censored genitals? Decent.
