What I meant by competition is that people have different moods for different things. I love videogames, but when I'm horny, I don't go play Bloodborne or something. Despite competing for my overall free time, I wouldn't compare my favorite porn movies to my favorite games. They satisfy different needs. I know there's a lot of overlap, but if I were to make a rough simplification, I'd say movies and books are story driven, games are challenge driven, and porn is biological urge driven. Porn games vary wildly on how much of each of those aspects they incorporate, and it's kida hard to tell at a glance. If someone comes into the game expecting just story+sex, and ends up having to overcome videogame challenges, I can see why they would get frustrated.
I didn't really mean anything in regards to popularity. The game is doing very well, and as I said, I think the "game first" approach is a huge part of that, as it makes it stand out from the crowd. In the end of the day, it's impossible to please everyone. I just meant that I do understand why some people would want some barriers removed. They were probably expecting more porn than game
