Not terribly important, but should any be unware after 2 years,
- How the intro works
The intro selection options are used to select starting girls from the existing girls.
They do not change the girls looks in any way or manner
- Some knowledge that could be of interest
Ren'py games do not have an "engine" as such.
All girls in the games are rendered beforehand in an 3D application.
So what happens is that the game loads the images.
- Apply this to HI to understand how things work
At 6000-7000 images a game like Holiday Island would in order to support ex. 3 different chest sizes need
6000-7000 for the smallest size
6000-7000 for the medium size
6000-7000 for the default large size (done)
So we'd need 12000-14000 additional renders just to support that choice of three chest options.
At a rendering time of perhaps 15+ minutes pr. existing render redone, that would require 3000-5000 hours of rendering and likely another 1000 hours of setting up and administration.
To this comes that all clothes would have to be redone to look ok as the chest size and fitting of them are interlocked, so if not redone it would look bad (as in games that does el cheapo setups and just crank it out). So it is not simply a choice of boob down and then render it for more choices.
It would be at least another 3000-5000 hours of manual custom work.
And then you have the animations.
Simply put, it is the equivalent of redoing the game over and over, it would take years and years.
Even fulltime it would take around 2+ years.
And of course the intro have more choices than that. There are body types, height etc. too (multiplying the combinations to insane levels) or if we only take the breasts, then there are melon size boobs as a 4th breast level (!)
A Ren'py game of HIs huge dimensions cannot have changing breasts, bodies based etc. Only small games or small+ games that run quick to do low quality setups could do it or perhaps up to medium games backed by a team of developers.
But for HI, which is huge, it is not only unrealistic, it is into the realm of the absurd.
