Man, this game could use AI to animate scenes... It would be so awesome

Yeah anything AI animated isn't awesome just mediocre. But please be amazed more at piracy at a worst cost and scale than this site could ever hope to compete with.
Darkhound is doing a great job with this game but his animations are fairly lackluster. The game would benefit immensely from AI animation.

I disagree. There are many videos in Civitai that look awesome. The best AI videos are better than the average CGI, but CGI still has the higher ceiling.
' The best AI videos are better than the average CGI'. That is a statement like a Volkswagen in fifth gear is faster than a Ferrari in first gear. So some of the AI ones turn out great. But in general a lot of them are crap. But of course if you use AI enough some great ones will happen. Like if you employ enough monkeys and typewriters you will end up with the complete works of Shakespeare.

AI art is technically CGI.
Pretty sure this game is dying. It was great for a while, but the game is simply too large to manage at this point. Posts have gone dark on patreon. 6+ months for the updates in the past few years. Sad to see it fall off, but all good things must come to an end. I'm sure he's trying to make it work, but at some point in every game's lifespan, the juice simply isn't worth the squeeze anymore.

You can "unren" the source images file in the Ren'py game package, but you do so at your own peril (messing with Unren can bork the game, if you don't know what you're doing). Otherwise, there's always the images in the in-game phone...

You certainly have the choice to stop playing. Some who have been with this game for years get more out of it. I would point to the Fan Fiction or Fan Art sections at how some truly like this game and the characters.
The game has been evolving and DH has taken great strides in updating the format as well. The game has grown in size and complexity from a developer's perspective (considering it is a hobby for DH and it is free). HI is not for everyone. It's an open sandbox game - there really is no ending, only achievements to solve. Personally I have re-started play several times after an update. I test my abilities to solve the games objectives (however I have never solved Yumiko's Easter Egg during Hotshots). If you're looking for a game to conquer this really isn't it - nobody will ever be crowned King of the game. So either play to enjoy or find another game that challenges you more. While I can't speak for everyone, I can state the game hasn't lost it's luster for me as I find new ways to play. Good Luck

Guess I won't ever get an update for Daniela content. Well... At this point it would be good to get any update actually. Over 4 months without a post on Patreon... Sad to see this development dying. Although game was far from being perfect I followed the development for quite a long time...
Actually the Patreon development page suggests there will be some Daniela content
In text it says this:
- Daniela gets the Hotshots game scene with a hot ending. Joy will be hosting it. -> will be part of 0.5.2.0

Yeah, seems good, but still. The updates take more and more time to finish and the quantity of content in my opinion also decreases between them. Maybe the author got burned out with it?

Why this is.... only Darkhound can answer that.
Some regulars here will not like to hear this, but it has been fewer updates over the last 2 years.
Quality is similar to how the game started, but has had a big upgrade in image quality.
However, I would hate to see an attempt at fast tracking an upgrade with AI being used for images and animations, as its quality is just
.Is it due to burn out from creating the game, or burnout from normal work, only he knows that.
I will say... that it's far complex to make new content work in an ever-growing sandbox game, as you have to link to everything else so that it works correctly.

I don't know why you complain so much. I also play Sylvia ManorStories and these guys update once a year.
