Well... last update (V0.4.5.0) was at the end of June last year, so still a few months to go yet before a year.
In the end, it will take as long as it takes for an update, and that's that.
This is a hobby project for a lone developer, so some consideration needs to be given to that.

I mean I do give em the benefit of the doubt after so long keeping at it as slow as it is!

A slow and demanding process, DH has been overhauling the previous versions in images, text, and motion. The earlier versions were a load of .png photos, now everything is webp format. He's also is creating compatibility for Window, Mac, & Android. He is doing this while adding content. I'm am not a dev so I can't state the amount of time, but from a programming issue I can say this program is now very lengthy from it's beginning. The original version was 585Mb, it is now over 3Gb. For a hobby that is commitment.

I'm just as anxious to see the changes. I know I will also get thru the play rather quickly (unless I re-play from the start). But the wait is worth it to me. This isn't a jerk-off game so the storyline, characters, and accomplishments are the driving force for many on this forum. Patience and you will be rewarded.

I appreciate that the question was addressed to the dev, but I'm pretty sure you won't have any problems with your laptop. It's a fairly old computer, but this game doesn't actually render any graphics live, it's just a series of stored images and some pre-rendered videos, it should run on a potato.

Pretty much the same applies for any Ren'Py game.

But only if the potato is running a Linux distro (clearly some geek installed it on the tater...because they could).

First I have heard of such a console command, and I have been playing the game for a number of years. Not to mention, there aren't 30 individual girls in Holiday Island. Are you sure we're talking about the same game?

Meanwhile, here is (I hope) a temporary fix if you want to run the
latest version & you only want more girls & not the other benefits
of the mod:

Save your game. In console, do:

g_max_chars_on_island

& note the original value. Then do:

g_max_chars_on_island = 30

If this causes problems (I dont know any) , then reload the save & restore

g_max_chars_on_island

to its original value. Best wishes. I hope all goes well

One complaint I have is how little you get to use the blue pill, it's only required for one girl's scene. For a game whose core story revolves around sexual enhancement research there is very little of it when it comes to the MC.
My first playthough I was expecting that you would turn in to a gigachad with a horseock.
