Thank you. Don't worry, I think in the foreseeable future, I will still be playing with these art stuff, because it's fun. I like writing stories, and I like creating visuals to tell those stories. The biggest difficulty is of course in creating those visuals. When I started making this game, I thought there were so many Daz3d assets that I could basically make anything I wanted. And it was fast too, because a lot of it was just drag-and-drop. But once I run out of suitable pre-made assets, it's really slow. I mean, it's unfeasible to create new entirely new environments on my own because that alone will take up all my time.
But there is a lot of development coming in the art industry that is focused on making it more accessible, namely AI. I'm not talking about the AI images that you commonly see these days. I have tried that and my conclusion is that at the moment, it's only good for making portraits. But there are other AIs coming such as those that can make 3d models or rendering techniques. I think when they are ready, they will greatly enhance the production speed and the variety of art for people like me.
Now I don't know when they will be ready, but the speed of the development of these AIs is really fast. If we look at most of the games here on F95, we can see that even for a relatively short story, it takes years to develop. Well, even a purely text-based story like Winds of Winter is taking over a decade to write. But these AI, I think within the next year, they will be merged with or even replace the current workflow that we use to produce these VNs. So, even though I'm very slow right now, even slower than other developers, I'm hopeful that in the near future, I will have the tools to overcome the current limitations I'm facing now and make this game as I envision it. But while waiting for and learning about new tools, I'm working on the game the old way. Blender has already given me more opportunities to create something new and different for the game than Daz3d, but it takes quite a lot of time. Like, you see all the smooth Tifa porn animations people create with Blender. They actually spend months to make to make a very short animation. For me, that's unacceptable, because I have a story to tell, not just beautiful animations. Or things like fluid simulation also take a long time to make. So, I have to decide what features I can use in Blender within a reasonable timeframe. Well, I hope that explains why I'm taking longer than before to continue making this game.
