Hi!

Thanks a lot for those guides. These and the lavalamp youtube videos really helped a lot with getting started and not feeling completely lost. (Although the link to the video does not work anymore, scrolling through lavalamps videos was a big help). The only thing I was stuck on for a while is that the node constraints by now open with lctrl+I and not N anymore. (I'm using BetterRepack R16 which has NodeConstraints V1.3.3) I guess it was changed because the overlap with disabling shadows.

I also have a question: Is it possible to "copy&paste" existing animations to a new character or do I have to do it all from scratch again? What I'm asking is basically to do in Neo Studio 2 what the HS2 game itself does - have a male char and use the same positions for different female chars.
I know I will very likely have to do adjustments of course, but are there ways or tools to make replacing the female (or male) char in an existing animation easier?

For changing female char to another female char, first click on the char you want to change in the Workspace box (on the right), then on the left of the screen, click on the Add > Girls > select which female char you want, and click the "Change Character". This "Change Character" button is only enabled if the characters are of the same gender.

For changing male to female char, this is more complicated, because as mentioned above, the "Change Character" button is disabled for different genders, which seems to be a StudioNeo limitation.
  • First you need to check if you have the latest mod. If you read the change log, you can see that this new version saves the character's sex if you drag and drop a card.
  • Select the char you want to swap on the Workspace box (let's say Person1 for example).
  • Find the HS2 card file of the char that you want to replace Person1 with (for example Person2) with your windows/file explorer (usually it is in the folder hs2/userdata/chara/female/ or male/).
  • Now drag and drop the Person2 card anywhere into StudioNeo.
  • This will replace Person1 with Person2. As you are changing body type, it will be glitched, which is why you need to ...
  • Save the scene file, and load the scene file again. Person2 should now load correctly in the scene with the correct body type.
I do not know if there is a more efficient method to change a characters' gender (maybe with another mod, or VNGE) but I have asked before in this forum and was told there wasn't any other ways, so if you do know another way, please share too.

Thanks. This helps a lot.
Sorry if my wording was not clear. I did not mean to change the gender but exchange chars of the same gender in existing animations.

Some creators make maps without any lights so it looks like this. Try adding a directional light to act as the sun and it should look better.
