Hi!

Thanks a lot for those guides. These and the lavalamp youtube videos really helped a lot with getting started and not feeling completely lost. (Although the link to the video does not work anymore, scrolling through lavalamps videos was a big help). The only thing I was stuck on for a while is that the node constraints by now open with lctrl+I and not N anymore. (I'm using BetterRepack R16 which has NodeConstraints V1.3.3) I guess it was changed because the overlap with disabling shadows.

I also have a question: Is it possible to "copy&paste" existing animations to a new character or do I have to do it all from scratch again? What I'm asking is basically to do in Neo Studio 2 what the HS2 game itself does - have a male char and use the same positions for different female chars.
I know I will very likely have to do adjustments of course, but are there ways or tools to make replacing the female (or male) char in an existing animation easier?

For changing female char to another female char, first click on the char you want to change in the Workspace box (on the right), then on the left of the screen, click on the Add > Girls > select which female char you want, and click the "Change Character". This "Change Character" button is only enabled if the characters are of the same gender.

For changing male to female char, this is more complicated, because as mentioned above, the "Change Character" button is disabled for different genders, which seems to be a StudioNeo limitation.
  • First you need to check if you have the latest mod. If you read the change log, you can see that this new version saves the character's sex if you drag and drop a card.
  • Select the char you want to swap on the Workspace box (let's say Person1 for example).
  • Find the HS2 card file of the char that you want to replace Person1 with (for example Person2) with your windows/file explorer (usually it is in the folder hs2/userdata/chara/female/ or male/).
  • Now drag and drop the Person2 card anywhere into StudioNeo.
  • This will replace Person1 with Person2. As you are changing body type, it will be glitched, which is why you need to ...
  • Save the scene file, and load the scene file again. Person2 should now load correctly in the scene with the correct body type.
I do not know if there is a more efficient method to change a characters' gender (maybe with another mod, or VNGE) but I have asked before in this forum and was told there wasn't any other ways, so if you do know another way, please share too.

Thanks. This helps a lot.
Sorry if my wording was not clear. I did not mean to change the gender but exchange chars of the same gender in existing animations.

Some creators make maps without any lights so it looks like this. Try adding a directional light to act as the sun and it should look better.

also, aside from some maps not having lights, some of the maps will only work in DHH mode. You can test by doing a screenshot (F11 then look in UserData - Cap). If it looks normal in the screenshot but dark in studio, it probably only works in DHH mode.

Okay, so this is a fairly long and complicated one:

Timeline only allows me to animate a single thing in the same scene, BUT it allows me to animate a single bone from the start of the animation to the end, and then go back, add another bone, and do the same. This is my preferred way to animate, starting with the most important movement, and building the others around it.

VNGE allows me to have multiple animations in the same scene - but I CANNOT for the life of me, find a way of animating a single bone all the way through, and then going back and doing the next one from the start. Whenever I try, it resets everything when I add a new point to the dope sheet when I switch between FK and IK (I also can't work out how to select some of the bones as they don't appear in the drop down for FK).

Obviously, I would like the functionality of Timeline, with the ability to have multiple animations in the same scene file, as I do with VNGE. Am I missing something with VNGE so I do not have to move everything, exactly, in each pass?

I am quite certain that Timeline lets you do animation for every object in the scene. I.e. you can easily have a couple groping each other where Timeline is simply running two separate animations for each person. I've done so myself, so ready to bet a farm on it.

On top of it Timeline allows you to animate its own clips. So, say you animate a perons's arm_movement1, arm_movement2, arm_movementN and then via timeline you have a master clip that plays each of these animations one after another.

And you do the same when animating multiple people - via a master clip you launch animations either parallel or one-by-one of the clips for each person.

Much appreciated.

I'll look into this and return to sing your praises if I can get it down.

Any where we can get that scene file, for educational purposes, please?

Thank you!

By the way, do you know about this error that I got when loading the scene file?

[UAR] Compatibility resolving (Studio Animation) failed, no match found for ID
Studio .OICharInfo+AnimeInfo Group 0 Category 1

I sometimes get this error when other loading scenes as well. Am I missing some mod or update?

Hi there, I have a question regarding the scripted dick. i attached the dick to a male character but when I choose the missionary animation the dick does not attached to the character's boy. The dick moves according to the animation's motion but it does not attached to the character. even though there are already parented. Why is that?

This window is VNGE's clip manager. Are timeline animations saved as clips in there or are you referring to VNGE key frame animation as timeline? I say this as I don't see the timeline widget in your option bar to the left. View attachment 4245113

The widget is the third down from the yellow VNGE scene button, that is currently green as it is open.
Timeline and VNGE's Clip Manager are separate.
If we say timeline, then what we meant is Timeline plugin. Not VNGE's Clip Manager.
Usually we either call it ClipMan or just simply Clip Manager.
Both are used to animate stuff and has been around forever. No one wouldnt mistake them.

Could you explain how'd you got that? Like where did you parented the dick to the character. Do you just simply parent it or using NodeConstraint?
