i haven't fucked anything up. i have tried re downloading fresh to make sure of that. i would see if other people have had this issue as well. but frankly i dont care enough to bother, seeing as this is the type of response i'll geti would say more likely is that you (and the other dude) fucked something up with your games...

We don't know at all what exactly the elves are planning, all we know is the mother has meet with them regular. And IIRC Cass is only telling us that when we are not on her path/she has a low opinion of the MC.
There is nothing indicating that Elves planning a coup as of now. Even if they want to how...? There are only two Elf and a three half-elf in the court and not much of a Elven sypmhatizer. If you ask me: Elven conspiracy's purpouse is manipulating the MC for the favor of Elves yet by now their only success is forcing/deceiving king to exile MC. Meanwhile, Cass gathered support of Western lords, Elin-Lockhart marriage is probably her doing and if not, surely in her favor. Also she assassinated all the soothsayers which Elves send to the court and in this way she countered Elves' only successful move. This is probably why Queen hates her this much.
Maybe you got that from a different path that I took but only thing I know of is a conspiracy to gain favour with the MC and potentially influence him in benefiting the elves. How would they even coup and who would they put on the throne?
