But there's no way I can explain it, knowing his motivation. It would just be super implausible, well, at this point in the story.

I've been tempted more than once to add a scene with him of this nature, even if not, you know, full-blown. I mean, there are so many people asking for it. But then, over and over again, I've rejected it and followed the original plan, which says - it's not time yet.

Yes, I have been interested in him since the Tabias bet. I will make love to Cadonis. And Uturna chose me not to have sex with Kadonis.
It was strange for a mysterious person like him. There's so much more to explore.:whistle:
I mean, basically everyone who chose to bet with Tabius, thought Selene could keep her legs together. So he isn't exactly special in that regard, Iolanta is just too convincing.

Who kept her virginity for Yuturna? Sometimes, I'm the one who kept it for him.:ROFLMAO:
I have my main save where my Selene is also keeping herself virgin for Yut too. Then another where she's faithful to Cadonis. And obvioulsy multiple one time playthroughs to check out other content I might miss between those two. I've said this before but this is a rare game where I actually enjoy trying out different options vs sticking with a single playthrough.

A few words on the virginity. The first 3 chapters are largely a settling one. They establish the connections between Selene and the troupe, Selene and society, and even Selene and you, the player (which is why chapter 2 has a lot of those "mundane" moments). You have to feel for your character. Understand her. Otherwise, this story just won't work as it should.

And those same first three chapters are the best place to lose Selene's virginity. To determine if she's using her sexuality as a tool or maybe just for pleasure. So right now all the scenes can be easily opened even by a virgin.

Already by chapter 3, this will partially change. Some especially naughty scenes will be blocked by either formal virginity or a low sex counter (the game "tops up" this hidden counter with each new man and displays this by changing descriptions when thresholds are reached on the character sheet).

And this will change completely by chapter 4. If your Selene remains a virgin by then, she will prove that she takes it seriously. Which will greatly reduce the possibility of losing her virginity only to more or less romantic options or... well, without her consent.

Yes, of course, the idea is that the game can be played without sex at all. But at this stage of story readiness it doesn't change much, yet. But at the same time, that window of opportunity (or desires) won't be open forever.

Well, there is currently only single place in the game where one can get 20 silver for their virginity, as opposed to getting nothing, so this is objectively the best place to lose it. :sneaky:

On this note, i think there may be a small bug in that sequence: the option to haggle for higher amount with high Mind, Maybe, but that's not what we agreed on. Triple the amount and I'll agree. sets the pr374 flag but it doesn't increase the actual payout even though Barnabas agrees to it. You always only get the double of initial price:
Code:
<<if $fiveCoin is true and $hadVaginalBarnabas is false>><<set $savings to $savings +2>>
<<elseif $fiveCoin is true and $hadVaginalBarnabas is true>><<set $savings to $savings +3>>
<<elseif $sevenCoin is true and $hadVaginalBarnabas is false>><<set $savings to $savings +2>>
<<elseif $sevenCoin is true and $hadVaginalBarnabas is true>><<set $savings to $savings +4>>
<<elseif $tenCoin is true and $hadVaginalBarnabas is false>><<set $savings to $savings +3>>

Wow, going in I did not expect the game to be that intense, I just binged it in one session. I am highly invested in the story and can't wait to see where It will go from here. Fuck Jumpers, the whole segment of the roadside house, and dragging Mer to the water was straight-up nightmare fuel. That poor couple, and that poor oxen. If high fantasy magic exists somewhere in the setting I am using it to wipe out Jumpers! I love the writing and storyline, I eagerly look forward to the next chapter.

Are there any other games like this on the site or Steam? They don't even have to be "porn games"(This seems more like a game with sex than a game about sex.) I think this game might have awakened a love for choose your own adventures in me.If that's even the right genre.
Well, I believe that in addition to the poor couple and the oxen, you can add Mer's left leg (since you've chosen to save his life) to your list of grievances against the greedy jumpers... A nightmare fuel you said, huh? For my part, I considers that this kind of "painful" episode is necessary to make players understand that the Inner Empire is not a land without dangers. The threats are real and multiple in this universe. And of course: can happen at any time. In short, to summarize: <<This is an 18+ story, not a children's fairy tale.>> isn't it D.E.? So, my goal here is not to break your morale Eumenesthegood, neither to you nor to all the other players; rest assured guys!&! What I mean is that since the beginning of the game certain scenes were quite "harsh" indeed. Why, according to you?&? A whim of the author? Certainly not! I simply think that the violence/cruelty present in these scenes (including sexual, in particular with the survivor origin) makes it possible to make credible the dramatic aspect necessary for the true involvement of the players. A sort of “necessary evil” so to speak. However, I find that Defiant Explorer compensated well for these few difficult scenes thanks to an always effective humor, detailed and interesting characters construction, as well as a lore of rare depth for this type of html game. There is still a LOT to say, but I'm going to stop there because after all I'm not here to make a general evaluation of the game either;-xD. In any case, I hope that my humble opinion will have allowed some people to reflect seriously on the "affection" they feel towards this incredible game. [^-(y)-^] P.S. /I have a suggestion for you buddy: a really old-fashioned rpg, and full of epic adventures. Very little sex on the other hand, but since that doesn't seem to bother you; I would recommend you to test Battle Quest by Lobsterman9999, another html game present here on the forum. I don't know if you'll like it but all the better if you do...\

What a mercantile approach your Selene has... xD

About the money. The game takes into account abstract "savings", not exactly and precisely how many coins Selene has. This is done for a multitude of reasons. So Selene can buy some inexpensive things, like some sweets from a street vendor (she will by default have the money for it, so the savings won't be recalculated anyhow). With more expensive things, the savings will be deducted, yes (and whether Selene has enough to buy them in principle; otherwise, she needs to find other ways to get what she wants).

There is no commodity-money mechanism in the game, I considered it redundant for my text game. You don't need to go on raids, upgrade your equipment, and constantly "hang" in the trade window at the nearest vendor. At the same time, many interesting situations can be created where Selene will need to bargain, be greedy, and look for other ways, without taking into account exactly how much and what kind (copper, silver, or gold) coins she has.

Well, she has been raised to be a trader, it's in her blood.

(i kid, i kid; Selene in my game is too traumatized for this sort of deals, so she steered clear from it)
Well, suit yourself... Personally, I find the morally ambiguous protagonist much more interesting. Otherwise, I wouldn't have added all those "baddy" options here and there. Although, of course, you can play as a do-gooder too.

Yes, this is understood for the money D.E. and so; the Boring "hanging around" with the merchants. Nevertheless, I always found it a shame that in the character box there is not an "equipment" tab in order to know... Uh? Let's say: an updated system to know what Selene has available at its disposal "in real time". After all, losses or theft of equipment can quickly happen (even if many of the players don't like it), and also I guess that the advantage of this for you, well: after a while this might relieve you a little (for the writing load), right??

Oh, don't get me wrong, i appreciate having those options and my Selene makes use of them every now and then. A girl gotta eat and have some fun, too.

At first glance, yes. But if you look at the matter in more detail, on the contrary, it would overload me a lot. After all, if you have an exact money counter, it means you need to create a lot of situations where you can spend it and how much exactly, accurately, down to the coin. But do you need that to create interesting situations? Not particularly.

Let me try an example. A guy and a girl on a date. In an expensive restaurant. The guy says he'll pay the bill. But then he sees the bill and realizes he doesn't have enough money. We can see it in the look on his face. And we wonder how he's going to get out of this situation. But are we so interested in exactly what the number is on the bill and exactly how many bucks are in the guy's wallet? Nah, not really. The situation spices things up even without that knowledge. And we're much more interested in what he's going to do about it, not exactly how much money he has.

You could say that I rely more on cinematic narrative methods than on traditional gaming ones. That's why I so often use terms like "scene" rather than "event".

That's funny. Busy proofreading and making corrections throughout 1.69 + 1.7 right now. Didn't any of you guys play the route where Meralion died? I mean, this is the second time I've removed references to Meralion surviving from the descriptions on that route. The scenario where he survived was done first and the second (where he died), while having a number of similar scenes, still has its unique differences. Funny how no one in the past months has reported on the odd references left in the context of Mer surviving when he's dead. But okay.

Also, Lynis, sending the triad of Smiley, Tail, and Jum to guard, for some reason says he'll replace them by tonight. And in the evening, he sends most of the hunters off on the road. Something needs to be done about that phrase... Originally, I wanted to leave the rest of the hunters in the background. But in the process, I decided to get rid of them, because the faceless crowd is no longer of any use anymore. Even the arts for the night camp have been replaced.

All in all, we'll have a polished version in the next week or so. I mean... now is the perfect time to report bugs, oddities, or any missed details.

My Selene is a virgin too, not because she doesn't want to have sex, but because she is more interested in girls (a dangerous "perk" in this game). And because of that she needs to be very strong, since there are only two jobs available in the beginning and if she doesn't want to have sex with a man she needs to work hard. The only "problem" that i sometimes have is: in some situations it seems to be not possible to show a total lack of interest in males.

Another thing is: why doesn't Iolanta see that Selene is a virgin during the examination (she could check that in that scene)?

Ahem... Do you mean the inspection scene in Sargon's tent from chapter one? Well, how shall I put it... Io doesn't go inside (and it's clear from the descriptions), she examines the outside and gropes the tummy. What's Sargon and Iolanta are interested in is whether Selene is healthy (no venereal disease?) and whether she's pregnant.

But if it makes you feel better, Iolanta is an experienced, intelligent, and attentive woman. She doesn't need to look "inside" to figure out from Selene's behavior and reactions if she is still a virgin or not.

I agree, sex or even just sentimental relationship with a character, should only happen if and when it's fit with that character.
In my case, it's Muriela my "long love goal".
But I hope it won't happen before a while, because it will only make sens with her. Even more as it will be a forbidden love relationship.

But in another hand, it's totally fit that Iolanta and Cadonis jump on Selene almost as soon as they meet her.
