No, last update (containing new material) was in August.
So season two is soon to be released on steam.. But heres my question. Will it be part of the game we already own, or will we have to purchase it again??
As far as I know, it would be necesary to buy it again as DLC like it was with the past episodes, but just one buy for the Episode 1 of Season 2 that would apply for the rest of the Episodes of the Season.

Just do a research about kickstarter projects or games, how many of them became successful at the end and delivered what they promised in the beginning ? High percentage of games are abondoned, or scammed the people , take money and close the project.
Of course this game can also become very successful in the end, but I see that chance is low. And signs are not good. Just look at the development status in the early beginning of the game, there was update almost in every 3 months. Now last update with new material and content was in September 2023.
So it's quite normal to say "supporting this game on patreon is insane".
Let me tell you the another "milking" tactic for mainstream games, the "Early Access". There are games which stay in Early Access status for more than 5 years lol. You are basically selling an unfinished product with a fancy status name ))
Those games also can be very successful one day, like IoM, but tell me the chances?

He always spoke about the money he gave from time to time on Patreon to this dev as payment like if he purchased something...
No need for a research, I know Kickstarter too (I supported some projects there)
You are making a mistake : Kickstarter has not the same business model as Patreon....
- Kickstarter : creators define an amount of money they think enough to be able to make their project from beginning to end : as a subscriber you give money once for all.
- Patreon : Creators asks for money to subscribers on a monthly basis.
If they need more money later, it would be unlikely they manage to gather additional funds in another campaign : subscribers would not follow...
The business model Patreon provides to their creators is far less risky for the sake of the projects in that aspect : no need to plan money for too long thanks to the monthly system of patronage. Hence, it is easier for rookie developers to start a project...
I do not say you are wrong if you do not trust this dev, it is obvious this dev has room to improve. I just say you cannot say I am wrong to trust him either : that's why saying supporting this dev to be insanity is not acceptable.

At work, the scrum master and I (as software tech lead) drive daily meetings every morning with the devs of my team and the product owner (representing my customer).
To each dev, including me, is asked : have you done what you planned yesterday ? and what task do you plan to do today from the user stories kanban board ?
and that is my daily routine for more than 10 years... I said that to show you I know what efficient dev reports are... and I can say this dev does quite good reporting in his weekly posts : he does not just go on Patreon to say Hi...
I rely on facts to make my decisions about my subscriptions : I have informations from his Patreon posts and Discord in which the dev gathers feedback from the susbcribers there... I give money after all...
Can you claim the same reliability before posting here ?

Btw chinesewarrior, the dev just pubslished his usual saturday post to show his progress for chapter 1 season 2.

When I compare with other devs from here who work alone for all that must be done (story, coding and rendering) he is not lazier than them : on average devs from here make between 500 and 600 renders per two months.

To be fair, it shouldn't be compared to developers who are lazy, it should be compared upwards rather and it is true that although a lot of work has been done since the last update, it has also been a long time since the 1st season ended.
Well, considering last update with new content / materials was 9 months ago, 1197 render and 205 animations since that time are less than I expected I would say
I would prefer 500 render per two moths routine, overall it makes more than 2000 renders in a year.
And for your previous comment, you have a point in your argument with investor perspective. Yes those regular reports like what we done this week from slack jira etc are might be good signs for them.
But in here I am loooking from end user / consumer perspective and there is no new content new material for last 8-9 months this is a fact.
I have very negative views about subscription in general, not just patreon all kind of subscriptions, streaming platforms etc Subscription system usually takes creativity away , it's easy money. and easy money always makes people lazy. Very few people keep their discipline.
In the beginning of their journey all VN share new contents in considerably short time and update oftenly to gain followers. After certain number of subs gained, their goal for income accomplished. Then, updates delay ))
This is not just this game, all other big games here doing this, they lack update after certain time.
If you and other supporters like you even stop supporting just for 1 month, suddenly IoM will start to get regular 2 months updates ))
