News 10.02.2024
Hello, everyone!
Ten days of development are past us and it’s time to update you on what’s been cooking during this development iteration. Today’s post will be on the shorter side as we’re very close to the seasonal release and need to finish and polish the last pieces. But for now, let’s begin!
First of all, the art-preview (available in a separate post). This time it’s the (almost) finished fullscreen art that will be a part of the upcoming seasonal patch.
Next, a summary of the recent changes and additions for the game:
- Major part of the development time was spent on the seasonal update, as well as continuous work on 0.11A. The seasonal update itself will include one new location (one of the three that will appear in 0.11A), together with interactions on that location with Hermione. Finally, there will be a fullscreen art representing one of the aforementioned interactions.

One of the new locations in 0.11A, the Great Hall, has also been fully inserted. This is mentioned here as a separate item because the location itself contains many minions that represent the students. In addition, certain logic had to be added that will make the students appear randomly so that each visit to this location feels fresh. All this took some time in order to make everything work correctly and look as it was intended by the artists.
Here’s an example of the random selection of students and other characters who are present in the Great Hall during a visit:

- Elf-maid’s fullscreen scene has been inserted into the code as well, including the art and the logic. This scene will be a part of 0.11A.
- The texts on Weblate (the translation portal) have been updated to include both the texts for the seasonal event, and for the chapter that will come in 0.11A. We’re doing this by request of the community translators who asked to make the texts available prior to the actual release, so that some of the community translations will be already available when the new patches come out. We want to thank all the amazing contributors who add the translations for different languages, you are awesome!
Now, onto the near plans for the game. As expected, we will continue to insert the art and the logic for the events in 0.11A. At the moment around half of the chapter is finished, the rest requires the art to be finalized. While waiting for that we’ll make the last changes, additions and polish required for the seasonal update.
While this is happening, a member of the team is actively working on outlining and specifying the new interactive content for the game that was mentioned in the previous news posts. One example of such planned content is the new events based on potion making that will happen in Potions Classroom.
Here’s a short outline for these events:
- Marcus will be tasked to watch over the students during the potions classes while Snape is away doing other things.
- During the classes the students will naturally make mistakes and it will be Marcus’ duty to react properly and neutralize the danger caused by the clumsy student.
- Depending on the severity of the event Marcus will need to make a different potion using different grades of ingredients.
- If the dangerous event is neutralized, the event will continue until either a new event happens, or Marcus’ shift ends. However, in case of failure Snape won’t be happy at all, therefore Marcus won’t get any reward for the event.
- Apart from the compensation for his time, Marcus will also get certain rewards from the students themselves. Some of them might even want Marcus to make them a special potion and do some naughty things as a payment for it.
- In addition, Marcus will be able to acquire several upgrades to make things more efficient and to unlock additional scenes with the students.
Apart from this activity we also have several similar ones planned, with the goal being to add interesting and interactive content which is focusing on progressively lewder rewards after each successful completion. We will provide more information about them as they are being discussed and put on paper for future integration.
And now, let’s wrap this up with a round of voting. We would like to hear your opinion on the event that was described above. Do you consider such types of progressive events interesting and worth doing? Or do you prefer to just follow the story and enjoy the more classic visual novel experience? Please let us know down below!
- This already sounds very interesting. I would love to see more of such stuff in the game.
- That idea sounds okay, but I need to see how it actually works in the game first.
- Nah, that’s not interesting. Sounds too grindy and repetitive, and not worth the time spent.
- I don’t care / I want to know the results.
That’ll be all for today, folks! We greatly appreciate you sticking around and continuing to support the development by donating and leaving feedback. Thank you!
We’ll meet again very soon when the seasonal update is out. Until then, stay safe and have fun!
