Santi ran away as you know, then his parents showed up in front of Emily's door. Emily did not say anything to them, that means Santi told them. He did not reach out to Emily before his family, this means he was not intended to be a father also. So, only logical conclusion was he told his parents Emily is pregnant and he is not planning to be a father. Whether they decided to money thing together or was being solution of his parents matters so little. Btw, they have photos together after the beach scene, so Emily was at least friendly with him. The photo Mel showed to MC that Santi carrying Emily on his shoulder must after pregnancy announcement, because Mel was in it. Emily met Mel after she learned her pregnancy. So, she must have forgave Santi again.
Andres was not in love with Emily at the beginning. Santi cucked him hard with his, iirc, first GF albeit only flirting phase, not real dating stage. So, he hit on Emily as revenge because she was Santi's childhood on/off GF. Emily accepted Andres as a rebound too. Then after the fight about the pregnancy, he promised to take care of the child. Which btw I really don't fucking understand because how would being a stepdaddy to your enemy's child is a revenge. After MC born, he made Emily promise she never see Santi and they are not going to tell MC about his father, nor Santi about MC. It's not clear when Andres was started to feel fatherly towards MC but there was a mention when he first called him father, something changed in him. Emily kept her promise as long as she needed Andres' help then she started to see Santi, also immediately mentioned about MC too and the promise. Santi responded with he is okay with the promise. Another indication he is not interested in being a father to MC, even a decade later. That made Andres furious, which is understandable. It's not clear here but I assume Andres paid all of Santi's student loan as a revenge. Anyway, they divorced he left town and MC. Up until this point, there is no indication neither Emily nor Andres loved each other but Andres loved MC as his son, this is an accepted fact from all 3 sides. Then MC became unruly, whole Erynn thing etc. He was getting in trouble, some problems at school too etc. Emily decided to send MC to Andres as he is the only person MC was obeying to. At the beginning, it was only for a summer. Though, Andres realized MC going back to Emily would only harm him, so he suggested keeping MC long term. Emily reluctantly agreed. Then dude become the single dad to a child he has no blood relation. MC remembers those times fondly too. MC refused to talk to his mother. Never answered the phones, even refused to see her in person when she tried to reconnect. Did I mention MC is huge twat? Anyways, it's the beginning of the game at this point.
So, Santi refused and ran away first time he heard about MC. Then sent his parents. Then refused to see him after almost a decade later. He never intended to be MC's parent. Emily used Andres as long as she needed him. Nobody mentions this but Santi's parents offered money because Emily's financial struggles. Iirc, Emily was estranged with her family. So, she decided to stay with a guy who she never loved to use him to raise a child. Up until the whole Andres cheating on Haley thing, she thought Andres was in love with her and she was okay to use him. She easily broke her promise as soon as she had a chance. I really don't understand why people like Emily around here, she is despicable.
