Thinking about it, if there's any world state where Zach just absolutely refuses to turn back, it would be the one where MC hooks up with Val.
With the other girls Zach can still come to his senses as "they never reciprocated my advances". With Val, from his perspective, she was into him, but just shy of expressing it. We've seen him raise eyebrows at the flirting MC and Val do, even saw how handsy they were in ep14 if you have MC chasing Val.
I can see Zach taking that just the ultimate betrayal, MC did actually swoop in, push his girl away from Zach and take her for himself, Ethan was right about MC all along. And he just digs in and refuses to budge.
Its the one girl that MC shouldn't go after if we want Zach to stay his friend. Dunno why we would want that, but still.
