Leads me to believe he had no idea his parents offered to pay for a termination.
Personally, it gives me more the impression that for him the problem had been solved by his parents.
And alternatively that he knew nothing about it, which I doubt, as Meiri says he hasn't done a damn thing for his son for about twenty years.

And he is still to blame, it's his son he should have done more in those 18 years if he actually cared about him.

I will say we are still missing his side of things as well, but he is partly responsible, tbf neither of them are parent of the year material.
It has been shown it wasn't his choice, he was just respecting Emily's wishes. She's the one who avoided Santi for months, accepting the ultimatum given by Andres to raise the boy as his and cutting Santi out.

Even when he bumps into her 10 years later, he expresses interest in how his son is doing. That doesn't scream "I don't care about my child", more like someone who cared enough to let go to prevent a tumultuous situation for both Emily and MC.

What's more likely, he confides to his parents about the pregnancy and they approach Emily about termination behind his back, or he's fully on board with the termination and his bewilderment at her reaction when he approaches her at the beach is inauthentic?

Considering he shows interest in his son when he runs into pre-divorce Emily, it points toward the former.

Considering he's texting her after seeing her on her date with John, it could very well be a way to leave the door open for him to screw Emily again.
I was talking about when MC was 10 and Andres found out about Emily meeting Santi, leading to the divorce. It does look like there may be a reconciliation path between Santi and Emily brewing...

I'm just saying, all the Santi hate makes little sense when we learn from not just Emily, but Zo too, that he would want to know his son. Doesn't scream of someone who wanted the child aborted, which is why his bewilderment at the beach makes me think he didn't know.

I guess we just view things differently, they were too young so I can understand him not knowing how to deal with an unexpected son at that point in their lives, but I still think at some point in his life he should have fought harder for his son even if Emily and his parents were pushing him away.

Again we are missing his side of the story but he is not an innocent figure in all of this.

It's stated that Emily avoided him for the entirety of her pregnancy, during which time she was tethered to Andres. By the time she had given birth to MC and returned to college, Santi had graduated and left town knowing that she wanted nothing to do with him. She made her choice and he respected it.

Should he have done more? Yes.
Could he have without burdening the mother of his child with lawyer fees? No. That would be his only choice considering how Emily felt at the time, which undoubtedly would lead to more resentment and a situation no child should be brought up in. So he relinquished and let Emily raise his son as she saw fit.

We'll see what happens when Santi learns about Andres only dating Emily to get back at him, the ultimatum and how he punched his son.

The fact that after receiving the information he approached Emily as if nothing had happened, furthermore he did not in any way try to understand why Emily was angry, as if he knew the reason.
He's probably matured and all but what he did remains

But if he knew, her reaction of rejecting the money and storming out would have been relayed to him and he wouldn't be confused by her anger as he would have seen it as a possibility.

As it stands, all we know is he took a few days to contemplate, his parents interfered and next time he saw Emily she refused to entertain talking to him.

The MC only just found out. He's been asked to let Melissa and John tell her, which I think is more than reasonable.
Dont matter the reason, she's still gonna be pissed and take it out on him and he'll deserve it for that crap he pulled 5 years

The only father figure who has truly been portrayed as an asshole is the one who essentially blackmailed Emily (a girl he was only with to get revenge on Santi) into raising her and Santi's child as his, where he then proceeded to assault said child for confronting him with the truth about his parentage and Andres' infidelity.
Kinda crazy that the absentee father is the asshole over the one who stepped up when Emily couldnt handle her child. Also its funny how Emily kept that secret even after they divorced until such time as she fucked up. But this is about fathers so yea.
Hell I'd even set the two up
Ethan couldnt handle tori. He better stick to fucking Erynn clones, thats more his speed.

minor hint, if you're negging Mckayla, you're likely on the right track as negative points for one girl typically means positive for the other

Why did he "step up"? It's practically confirmed he never really loved Emily and only got with her because Santi got with a girl he was crushing on. He took on Emily and the MC not out of love, but out of spite against Santi. His true feelings toward MC are shown when he assaults him when confronted about his infidelity.

We're also told Andres was going to reveal the truth when MC got old enough so Emily left it to him, only he neglected to do it.

Andres is basically Zack from 20 years prior. A undersexed, overly jealous rodent who had to blackmail a single mother into marriage.
