They have improved a bit with the rework, such as the Lexi shower scene animation. She is getting better at it IMO.
Keep in mind that shit we've been doing there is limited resources, without paying for membership and using Nyx own renders as base.
If she pays for membership she'll get a lot more resources and quality, and she'll be making the base renders to work with the AI instead of using something that was never meant for that.

The throwing Layla in the pool animation at training camp? Yeah that one used to be really bad, but she did fix that a bit from what I remember. It's certainly better for me now.that pool scene makes my 4090 go full on stop for like 3 - 5 seconds

Dude, that's what this game is about... It's all about MC and "dick"). You shape the story by which girl(s) you date. We're over 14 episodes in, Nyx would have had plenty of opportunity to give random boyfriends to girls we reject at the beginning of the game. Maybe the best example of this is ASP: you ignore Lexi, and she still doesn't have a boyfriend. Why? Because Nyx wanted you to lust after MC's dick later, even if you're dating Layla. Or Iris.. She doesn't have a boyfriend because she still loves MC... This will be true for all girls, and they'll lust after him even when they're old women... Random guys... She didn't, and she won't in the main game. She talked about an alternate version, there I believe she will do it even with a lot of cheating. I'm not a fanatic, but I don't understand why everyone has to speculate about any girl. The thing that annoys me most about Lexi is that I read that some commenters are treating it as fact that a guy slept in Lexi's bed. What are we talking about? We don't know anything about who's sleeping in the bed. As long as there's no tangible evidence about any of the girls, why is everyone racking their brains...
This isn't against you, it's just that you mentioned the MC "dick myth"

Personally I would love the MC to have some "competition" but I know I'm likely in the minority. Seeing the girl that you don't choose be happy with someone else would be a gut punch but an effective and realistic one IMO.

Sure, it could be realistic in reality. But here we are talking about this story specifically, where the MC can date any girl, all the other girls still want the guy. This is a fact, so it's clear that every girl is waiting for the opportunity to be the next main LI for the MC. And not in the way that they date other guys in the meantime.

Of course, the game is primarily for us to have fun, we get to have our pick and there isn't any "real" competition.
Something like this would be simply a small surprise element that could be a nice touch but isn't worth getting riled up honestly.
Since we get to have our pick first, girls hooking up should happen once the door is fully closed on possible relationships.
So Iris can't have a BF right now, because her path is still in flux(i guess if you ignored her pussy in your face at the garage it's closed now).
Erynn still has Ethan hanging around, so she isn't free to reconnect with Zane just yet.
For Alexis this would mean not on her path and not on ASP either...
Personally i'm cool with Erynn getting back with Zane if the MC shows no interest, i'd be cool Layla-Elena embracing their bi side and ending up together, or Iris with Lakeyin/Brooke... Tori and Darryl? I'll even help make it happen
A lot of the male characters are bastards so there isn't a lot of possibilities, i wouldn't suggest Cara getting with E-manual...

Agreed, I like speculating about what will happen and all the random theories, but none of it's very serious. I've played a few completed games like this (relatively wholesome, romantic, solo routes) where the endings or epilogues have LIs that you didn't pick getting together with other people. All the examples for the different LIs are good drama to give the illusion of competition or suggest that the girl might hook up with someone else. I'd be surprised if Nyx actually included anything much more that that though, for the main LIs at least. For a game like this I think that illusion of competition or threat is probably all you need to get a bit of tension and an emotional response for the story. Taking it any further than that could work well if it's a consequence of bad choices, the MC cheating himself. But if the MC hasn't done anything 'wrong' on a path it feels like it would be high risk for Nyx to include.

There's a couple of different points you touch here.
I've seen games(non NTR games) that have failure states, MC loses, premature bad endings, but they aren't super common, the common thing is girls that only exist when they are on screen and interacting with you... as soon as they are off screen they stop existing.
Sometimes the girls you ignore had pretenders/rivals that you can beat easily, but if you don't pay enough attention to the girl he gets her...
Or she just disappears from the story without anything telling if she hooked up with the guy/went back to her shitty BF or anyone else.
In my opinion it looks too late for any "real competition" to be introduced in this game, most girls seem so completely in love, it would make them look flaky and wishy washy if they suddenly started considering a new guy.
The rival can't simply pop up out of nowhere, he would have to be in the game from the start... and not be a completely irredeamable asshole who blackmails women.
The game would have to built around this rivalry.
So i don't expect Zane or anyone else to cause real problems to a relationship you have active, a little jealousy here and there but nothing more.
The real problem is gonna be girl vs girl, jealous girls, juggling more than one relationship.
Maybe your punishment for failing this task will be seeing your ex-GF walking down the street with a different guy.
The next question is what to do with girls that have been permanently discarded(if there even is such a thing and they won't get second chances) on a given save?
Unlike most devs who have characters that cease to exist off screen, Nyx likes to keep a semi-real universe where characters still exist, still have their schedules, even if you don't care about them...
So i could see Nyx having her characters moving on and finding relationships between now and the endgame, and it doesn't bother me, i think this adds to the semi-real feeling she's going for.
And keep in mind this is just a small "look she's with him now" not watching some random character bend over a LI.

As someone who values realism and LIs having lives outside of just being someone the MC can fuck and being able to get in relationships if MC isn't on their path unfortunately this game isn't set up for it. There's just not enough viable romance options for the LIs. Other than Zane (as long as he wasn't aware of Ethan's plan with Erynn, which I don't think he was) and Nathan there's no guys who the girls would be interested in other than MC.

You are right that there isn't a whole lot of good dudes, Zane, Nathan(who already has a girl, but she can disappear), maybe bartender guy... Miles the terrible sprinter? Valeria thinks he's a nice guy
But... there's nothing telling some of the girls can't enter same sex relationships... Iris would be down for sure
Brooke is available... maybe Lakeyin likes to play for both teams as well...
And Laylena, this might be contentious... many here expect a throuple to be possible... them sharing and pleasuring each other...
Personally i think those 2 have done enough that you have to consider them at least bi-curious.
And suddenly a great number of players who didn't want to see the characters entering relationships are changing their minds and demanding detailed scenes of how these girls got together
