But Layla should be... "That was awkward... so... Spanish", she has no reason to run off like she does.

Yeah, imo that drama should only fire if MC has been flirting with Leyla for all it's worth until that point (so, crossing the "friends" threshold) while also dating Alexis, since then she'd have solid reason to feel betrayed and/or lead on, and it'd also warrant some potential heated reactions from Alexis and/or MC. Otherwise the blowup feels very much like "...what?"
