Someone who dislikes Erynn based just on what little they're told is acting, quite literally, on mental level of overreacting 13-year old who can't let a child grudge go for five years and counting. I guess their only saving grace is that they lack actual years long deep friendship that the MC is supposed to have with her and is more than happy to completely overlook in favor of being a perpetual drama queen.

People often criticize me for thinking like myself vs. thinking like the MC would (I'm not very good at that, honestly). I suppose if one tries to think as the MC would, that wrong decision actually makes sense at that point in the game.

What I meant by that is that at this point in the story Erynn is only shown as the mean girl who laughed with her friends at his confession.

But that's not really true. Erynn is also said to be MC's closest friend for years. So this is really a matter of making a choice which of these two factors is more important, both to MC and the player.

It's only after this point (meeting Erynn again) that we start to see things from her perspective and the actual truth.
This is an unfair point in the story to make the player choose between the fun and cute girl Layla and Erynn, especially a choice that permanently blocks one of their paths.

Yeah, i agree this is imo way too early point in the story to put a block on the player's ability to date one or the other. I mean, you barely know anything about either of them at this time.

Granted, this wouldn't be the first time game does it -- Alexis is basically "bang her five minutes after you met her or you can forget she's got a route" deal. ASP notwithstanding, since it effectively skips bulk of her actual romance path.

Great point. I don't think many pay attention to the "We were best friends and grew up together, we were inseparable." I agree that they absolutely should pay attention to that. What most take away is that she got new friends and then laughed at his confession. Almost ignoring what we were told that they had before that.

Even as an Erynn guy, i still want to see what comes out of the Melissa route... dating mother and daughter is too fucked for me to pass up

At least in Alexis case it's "this character yes or no?", with little downsides... if you go with yes, you can change your mind later.

Nyx mentioned she was shutting it down, she doesn't like the Layla-Erynn combo, it doesn't make sense to her... because of Alexis and maybe some other factors.

In the original version of the game that scene worked like this, it was a definitive choice.
Players complained and Nyx changed it, so it would no longer be a definitive decision... and now she's changing back to how she always wanted.

Maybe it's because there hasn't been a discovery and confrontation of the infidelity and consequential dumping. Not surprising as Layla and Erynn have rarely interacted.

I can't find the actual dev log here but I believe that Nyx said that she "forgot" that you can still date Erynn and Layla without consequence. Going back to the definitive choice outside the club is her fix for that. Many of us were hoping for it to lead to a dramatic confrontation, probably when Erynn starts teaching at the school.

I think it may be because it doesn't really work like the other pairings, timing-wise. The other conflicts come to light and bite you in the ass pretty early, but with Layla/Erynn you effectively have the MC cynically lead on the girl she's had her first sex with him and his long-time friend whose obsession/devotion for him is borderline unhealthy.

It kind of makes the MC look like a real piece of shit to just do this sort of thing without any remorse. Two-timing Layla and Nikki/Cara kind of comes close, but there at least you could make argument it's a "out of sight, out of mind" deal rather than jumping back and forth between two girls multiple times in the same day.

This is what i remember of Nyx's words(so there may be innacuracies)...

The discovery should've already happened, because of Alexis.

Alexis knows Layla has a thing for this boy and is kinda dating him.
She also knows Erynn has a huge thing for this guy... not sure she knows what stage they are in, the game never tell us...
So Alexis should be able to put 2 and 2 together and denounce the little asshole to her sister/bestie.

The fact that the combo of Erynn-Layla has been going problem free until now is a big problem in Nyx eyes.

I even suggested that an added scene could fix that.
Alexis puts the MC against the wall and says, "I know what you are doing asshole... stop playing around with my sister and Erynn and be honest with them, i'll fuck you up otherwise".

But last we heard she decided to go with the radical option and kill any possibility of matching these 2.

Or when Lexi figures it out... ...especially if it's jealous Lexi...

Another factor to account for, is this the Alexis that you fucked on the plane and then dumped? Or a Alexis that the MC never touched?

Seems like altering the Lexi/Layla confrontation to include a Erynn/Layla variant would have been ideal. Have it continue playing out as they hate MC and refuse to talk to him, but they don't tell Erynn.

That would prevent having to rewrite Erynn scenes showing disdain for MC.

It has elements of him pushing his luck for sure. He can get away with it because she already likes him so much, he also has that pretty privilege. There's one scene where Val even says "You're lucky I like you." when he is clearly pushing his luck, I just wish that we could reply with "I like you too." Is that really too much to ask for?
There are alot of other elements though to the date. I like how comforting we can be as the MC after those two idiots show up. There are some really tender moments.
