If it was other way around it'd also mean John has cheated on his now deceased wife (who's Iris's mother) with Melissa. Which i doubt would be something the author intended.

The main thing we know is that Iris is in college at the same time as Erynn and Lexi. So yeah most likely a matter of months between them. John was certainly a busy boy. I wonder how many other kids he has out there. I also wonder if Iris's mother was also a casual thing or was it more? Did he cheat on her with Melissa? I don't recall what if anything we've been told about her. Maybe more will come to light in the MC and John's talk in the next update.

I guess the real question should be, Iris's Mom scene when? Already had Erynn and probably Melissa, may as well do Iris and her Mom next.

Yes, they shared a class and that's how they met iirc, but some months of difference can still mean one is nominally 21 and the other 22, depending on when exactly their birthdays were.

From what i remember Ethan finds out when digging for dirt about John, he's been married to Iris's mom until she died. So whether it started casual or not, it was more than that for quite a bit.
