I was gonna say the same. Did you sell your translation to them? Are you getting a share of the profits from them, or are you even being credited? Did they even get permission to use your translation? That would make sense since you said to support and buy the game but if that's not the case, then this is downright plagiarism, I'd rather pay you than KG since you did the most work.
were you hired by them? If so, congrats.
They have permission, yes.

Somehow, I suspect there's no permission involved, no matter what barraged says, mainly because fan translators have absolutely no right to their work, because it's often done without any input from the original developer. So if a company goes to the original dev and promises to translate their work, and then yoinks the translation from a fan-translator... wtf is a fan-translator going to do... sue? Ha. Depending on where they live, they could get into legal trouble for making the translation in the first place.

So yeeeeah. Plus. This isn't the first time this happened. This just confirms that Kagura's been yoinking fan-translations and keeping an eye on these sort of things. I became suspicious ever since the whole thing with the "Demon Lord is New in Town" from Daijyobi Laboratory. The fan-translation for that was nearly done, then suddenly, the translator drops off the face of the planet completely, and Kagura releases a translation for the game only a little time after that.

Of course, no matter what the truth is, barraged wouldn't be able to say shit, because I seriously doubt that NDAs and door squeezing wasn't involved here. They'll deny that anything nefarious happened to avoid any legal trouble... and we won't know the truth one way or another...

Sigh...

Seems like Kagura's lived long enough to become super-scummy, rather than just loosely scummy, which is pretty much mandatory these days if you want to exist as a company doing business over a certain size...

As for there being more bugs in this version than in the originally translated version.

No d'uh....

Do you have ANY idea how integrated the smut is into this game? In battle. Out of battle. Events. Story... It's literally everywhere and extremely interconnected. Prunning all that to create a safe steam release? It's inevitably going to break shit when a game wasn't designed for it at all. If the original dev didn't help, I'd be extremely surprised if the game wasn't a complete bloody mess.

Honestly. Kagura always trying to make Steam releases is them shooting themselves in the foot, hard.

I'm still tempted to replay this anyway. If only because I want to see the translated trap menu and stuff... but I'll leave that for another time.

I find it amusing how much flack Otaku Plan and Wasabi get for their MTL-ish games despite working better and needing half as many bug fixes yet Kagura games is considered the "gold standard" for H games when they are full of bugs, missing and or broken content, and a long list of other gripes we've all heard before.

Also good to finally have a dev come out and confirm what I've suspected for a long time now. Kagura "acquires" fan translations.

To be fair, yoinked translation or no, Kagura does deliver actually translated games. If your primary concern is, y'know, having the game fully translated in understandable English that doesn't give you an aneurysm when reading it... then Kagura is indeed the golden standard. For H-games at least. If someone wants MTL, there's a million ways of making it yourself without paying a dime for it. For people who don't know jack-shit Japanese, like me, the quality is undeniable, even if it comes with issues and hiccups along the way.

Now, if they stopped shooting themselves in the foot with the Steam releases, that'd be lovely. Half the bugs that are theirs, and not from the original dev (and there have been plenty of those too, like in Celesphonia and other titles), usually come from needing to fuck the game up to work as a non-hentai game... Let's not forget when Devs do NOT give access to the latest version of their game, or their full version. That already happened with Chevalier Histoire, which is 100% percent confirmed, there's no saying what other devs did or did not do when it comes to their English releases.

Doing that sort of work without major tech support is just not gonna work, and by this point, it's obvious that Kagura is NOT gonna shill out the kind of money they'd need for it... especially since the work itself, H-games, is going to put off a lot of potential tech people who'll be able to earn plenty of money doing literally anything else and not have to live with the idea that they worked on porn games.

Imagine working at Kagura for 1-2 years or whatever, and then wanting a new job... Would you consider what to do about putting that in your CV? Where I live, I know more than one employer that'd take one look at that sort of thing and just say nope, regardless of how good you may or may not be, unless you're REALLY good and they're really desperate... but if you're that good, you wouldn't consider a job at a place like Kagura in the first place.

The point is, yes, they're scummy, and becoming scummier as time passes (this is utterly inevitable as a company, it's happened to every company in the history of ever as it grew)... but right now, there really is no one better. This doesn't necessarily make them good... but if people want a better alternative, they're gonna have to make it.

I agree with you on some parts and not on others. Also my comments are a results of where I personally hold priorities. Functionality is more important to me then story or pretty graphics; always has been in all games porn or not. If it is fun and engaging I'll forgive a shit story. Sure, I like a good story but i am more likely to drop a game over being broken or not fun gameplay wise vs being well written or a burning dumpster fire like many MTLs on this site .

I've seen my fair share of MTL and I suppose I have a high tolerance for it although incoherent "poetry" can be annoying as well. In most cases I personally have been less annoyed by Wasabi or Otaku plan games despite their translation quality (which honestly doesn't really bother me. It is "good enough") vs. Kagura releases that I've played just my personal experience. Ultimately it doesn't matter. Regardless of what anyone says or thinks, I just don't like Kagura Games. Their overall quality of their games are lacking functionally and I dislike their business practices. All just my subjective view on things.

Some may agree, others may not ultimately everyone has their own take and that's fine by me.

As someone thats been following p much every every fan translation thats been localized by kg.
i can tell you that more than one fan tl got yonked by kg without asking or saying anything to the fan translator nor asking the dev if they wanted to use said fan tl for a official release.
