Wow! That's a nice start! Works well on joiplay, actually that's the first time I think that I have a game that give haptic feedback on events, with the vibrations! Keep the good work!

Awesome, have really enjoyed the game up to the end of the content for the latest release, looking forward to see where this goes.

Love the graphics, have always been fascinated by space travel/science fiction. This is the one area I wish more game developers would delve into.

I'm really curious about the concept of a sandboxed kinetic novel. Is this for real or some mode mistagged the game?

It shouldn't have the kinetic tag. You do get to make choices and they have at least some impact.

That's bad (for the developer, first and foremost). I don't know who apply the tags, but, as per the definition presented here, the tag is "Used when a a visual novel style game presents the player with no choices;" so, "kinetic" is incompatible with "sandbox". Morover, I usually filter out "kinetic novels" so, and many others may do it as well; if this "kinetic" tag is misapplied, the dev may be limiting his audience (or, if applied by a moderator, his limiting it for him).

I discovered this game by chance. I like sandbox games and usually apply the tag when I want to discover new games, but I started to notice that there were some remnants of kinetic novels even with the "sandbox" tag applied, and, out of curiosity, I decided to see which games have this weird combination (not too many; only 9, but there are 22 "kinetic" "point and click" games). Even so, I decided to ask before trying because, well... I know, in theory, there could be good kinetic novels, but I never managed to find one in real life (for my tastes, of couse; I'm not judging anyone who likes 'em... I know many people, in the other hand, don't like sandbox games, and I don't care about them... I just get pissed when they're started campaigning against them...).

There is a story mode where there are no choices(for the most part) I believe. Or have I forgotten?

Sorry. Didn't play the game yet. But my point is that the "kinetic" tag may make people avoid the game. I, for instance, as I said above, love sandbox games (not all, of course, there are those that really give the "sandbox" tag a bad name) while I usually filter out kinetics, so I discovered this game by chance when I notice that, when I filter in sandbox, there were still some remanants of kinetics showing up. Out of curiosity I came to check those games and see what they were about. The same could be happening to other people who happen to have the same taste as I have (and the opposite too... I bet there are many people who filter "sandbox" out). So, market-wise speaking, maybe it would be better to get rid of the "kinetic" tag or, even better, to split the game in two threads, one for the sandbox version and other for the kinetic version, so your game won't be filtered out by one of the two groups or, even worst, by both.

Like you, I discovered this game by chance because "sandbox" is one of the tags I always filter out. I've played a few games with that tag, that and RPG. (I still see "rocket propelled grenade" when I see that acronym). I don't like having to "free roam" navigate or grind through repetitive action s trying to make sure I get things just right not to get stuck. Frankly, I cannot stand RPGs with or without the lewd content. I just find them boring and repetitive. I DO like kinetic novels because they are great at telling a story, as you would expect a novel to do. I even like it when the AVN has some story-critical choices to make. That this one has a sandbox for those who like that OR as a kinetic novel is a nice touch. I'd prefer it if the game let you choose your name because I am REALLY not liking being "John Doe" all the time. Tried modifying scripts.rpy but that just breaks the AVN. Also, the introductions to the girls skips something, where suddenly you are calling them by name without them telling it to you. The kinetic "game play" needs a lot of touch-ups. Other than the minor glitches, I do find the story fun and the cliff hanger at the end as dastardly as any cliff-hanger. Now I've got to find the, well, the spoiler at the other end!! LOL

Yews, there is an option to run it kinetic novel or sandbox. The story is good. I haven't, (and won't) played the sandbox, so maybe the sand-boxers are getting better attention to game mechanics than us kinetic novellers get.

I liked the game so far especially with the sci-fy angle because it's different and besides I'm a sci-fy fan myself.
Girl models are quite pretty too.

I prefer to name my MC too but I understand the dev/story might to want the MC's real name to be unknown, at least for now.
Love the fact I can pick KN type rather than a sandbox as that's my preferred play style anyway.
Thanks.

Ok Guys... Here's the deal. This game started as a three man team. A coder(The Coder of The Coder Games), a renderer, and A writer(Griff of Dark Griffin Games). Last fall (2023) we lost the render guy. This slowed things down big time as he was the only one who didn't also have their own independent game that they were developing. Then in spring of 2024, The Coder's work/life situation changed and he was no longer able to continue the project. This left me, Griff, as the only person still trying to work on this game. I put it on pause for a bit and put out 2 mor episodes of my main game.

I am now reworking the game in an entirely new ren'py file. I am using the same images from this game for the portion that is currently done, but I am removing the sandbox and grinding portion to make it more like a standard AVN.

To address some of the questions/concerns that have been voiced in the comments...

It will not be Kinetic, there will be choices that impact the story.

You will be able to change the player's name.

The MC will continue to look the same up to the point of the game that was completed so far.

It will have an even more indepth story with lore that wasn't included in the original.

It may have aliens...

I am trying to have the current story remastered and out by the end of the year.

When released, it will have a new game thread because this one belongs to The Coder Games and it will now be a part of the Dark Griffin Games catalog.

It will also have a new slightly longer name.

So, to sum up...

New Developer. New name. New menu image and setup.
Same story. Same characters. Same origin. Same writer. Same plan.

The story continues soon in...

I'm very glad to hear that Into The Nyx is moving forward, albeit in a somewhat different form.

Out of curiosity, did "the renderer" provide you with the (Daz3D?) assets (characters models, environments, etc.) so that you can maintain general continuity going forward with the existing game renders?

Being part of the original project, I have all of the .duf files for the renders, locations, and characters. I may still need to obtain some of the actual assets, but when I load the .duf into Daz, Daz tells me what Isn't found so that I can than get it.

In fact, parts of the project were actually designed by me, such as the recolloring of the Hab units so that each character has a unique room. the Shaft's that are used to travel from deck to deck, the Fabricator, and even the Ship itself was my design. (I also designed the logo for The Coder Games.)
