Started playing for a bit before it crashed. Couple of things so far I want to comment on right off the bat:
- The first, and easiest to fix, is that you're making a mistake that nearly ever game developer makes when making a VR game with sword combat: the sword is sheathed on the wrong side. The overwhelming majority of your players are going to be right-handed, and the sword is sheathed on the right side, which makes drawing your sword much harder than it needs to be. It needs to be sheathed on the non-dominant side so the sword can be drawn cross-body with the dominant hand. I would also suggest adding the ability to switch which side the sword is on, because not everyone is right-handed.
- There's something "off" about the female models when looking at them face to face. It's like their face is 2-dimensional, and floating slight ahead of their head; I don't know a better way to phrase that. It only seems to be a problem with the female models, and looking at them in profile seems to be fine.
- Speaking of character models, either the player character is very short, or the game is populated with giants, because every NPC I've come across stands a good head and shoulders taller than me. At first I assumed it was an issue of play area on my part, so I fiddled with my positioning through SteamVR, but then tables and counters only stood about knee-high.
- The game is very inconsistent when it comes to objective markers/trails. I talked to the guy in the pub, and got the glowing foot path to talk to the barkeep a few feet away, but then didn't get the objective marker when I left the bar a moment later. It wasn't that big a deal, because I paid attention and was told to go to the farm, and there are signs in town pointing which directions everything was; but it's a matter of visual consistency. Either have objective markers and paths for every quest, or have them not at all. Or, give us the option to switch them on and off, or be able to bring them up occasionally by pinging them with a button press.
First off, thank you for the awesome and extensive feedback, we appreciate that so much! We will consider and discuss the suggestions for improvement that you gave us, as VR is where we struggle the most to nail everything down. How are people getting sex scenes? I was able to get a topless boob grope, but that's as far as the sexual content went. At any rate, I think I saw everything the game has, except for the sex scene, so I'll give more notes:
- Please don't lock out the ability to backtrack. There was a point about halfway through where there was a camp in front of me, and a path that led down to some skeletons, so I went to camp thinking I'd save in case I crashed again, but then got locked out of the previous path with no way to go back, which is really annoying in an RPG.
- Having fiddled with the magic spells in the experiment room, I'm starting to wonder why not replace the main spells with those? Throwing in VR has always been fiddly and tempermental at the best of times, but during a fight or while dodging projectiles, it's a pain; the aim and shoot method works much better for this type of game.
- Strafing is way faster than running, for some reason, so I ended up going through most of the game sideways, which while amusing, is not a good look.
- The clothing damage states look like they'll only apply to party member NPCs? Because I think it'd be way better to have female enemies, and have the torn clothing states worked into it, which works as an incentive to combat, since right now there's no reason not to avoid it.
- I can sort of tell what you're going for with an escalating relationship mechanic with female party members, but as it is, it's really weird and borderline sort of creepy that you're rewarded with an increased touching mechanic. The implication is "We've traveled a little bit further, now you get to touch my boobs"
- Speaking of touching, why does the girl randomly get mad when I touch the zones in the circles? You can't yell at me for touching your boobs when you took your top off and told me to.
- I assume this issue is due to the fact that the game is in such an early state, but the second girl is introduced with absolutely no dialog or context. I talked to her, and now she's there, but I can't interact with her in any way. Also, she's first introduced as April, but then in the camp, the game calls her Erica.
- And a minor note on Erica/April that's all down to personal preference: I vastly prefer the outfit on the loading screen art, with the domino mask and garters, to the horns and metal bikini.
The game needs a lot of work, but it's something I wouldn't mind paying for once it's finished if it gets the major issues sorted out. Although, the version number is kind of worrisome, since 0.65 to my mind implies you're more than halfway to going gold, and with a half hour demo in such rough state, I don't think the game is anywhere near feature complete. I wouldn't even think this was in pre-alpha yet.
- The sword placement is temporarily there for the demo. In the full game we intend to have a fuller set of settings for VR.
- I'm not sure how to address the problem with the female, I guess we will look into it. If you have any clearer suggestions, that'd be great.
- The scaling in VR has been a problem and we've been trying to tackle it down, hopefully, soon we will.
- We are planning to completely rework the path/trail system, cause the current one doesn't really work, so that's in the making.
- In order to get to the sex scene, you have to go in all 3 camps along the playthrough and interact with the girl, you get the scene at the 3rd camp. I am guessing you didn't get to there cause you mentioned your game crashed.
- Most of the things you mentioned are because of the early state of the demo, the game is not very close to being finished but we are working on it everyday and we love receiving feedback that helps us improve, so thank you so much again for taking the time to play and to write all of your thoughts.
