I personally hate everything about AI graphics. I know it's a cancer of modern culture. It also demotivates real artists to take on the task - why bother, if it was done by a machine already? And don't worry about quality - it's not important, the main thing is speed and that now everyone can be an artist!

Nevertheless, until it's optional, it should be bearable. I just hope that Jack doesn't get more and more of this cancer implanted in it like it did with the training slaves in terms of future updates. It will be really sad this way.
I'm not sensible to ethical arguments. If something looks good, it's good. Consequentially, poor anatomy (6 fingers) and, if noticed, incoherent shadows and lighting, are indeed a no no.

To be honest, when I was working on the game, artists had already declared war by blocking lossless pics behind a paywall, or have me manually erase watermarks covering the entire drawings. For the time I lost because of artists, it's only deserved that we'll soon gain time ourselves by bypassing them.

JONT never ever minded intellectual property for its pics and music—like every single slavic videogames that steal assets and became cult classics—it won't start now. This game was never made to cater to its audience's sense of morality, lol. JONT literally has players kidnap girls to do paintings for them.

Besides, the entirety of hentai artists on this earth all combined did not draw enough for what this game needs (uncensored pink hair milf spider mating and others were hard to come by, I had to cheat) and the possibility of adding outfits is a dream coming true.

All-in-all, IA definitely appears to be the future of this game and I won't be convinced otherwise by some appeal to pity. However, it's still not the immediate future, as the current art of this game gives it a distinct personality that I'm not necessarily ready to sacrifice because there's a brand new technology that people who like to toy with get excited about.

Demotivated or not, I don't see those artists flocking in here to help with the project anytime soon either, so I personally see generative AI as the most realistic solution.
Plus there's always the middle option to have artists edit the AI generated images to make it look correct. That is, if an artist volunteers to do so.

Well fuck me, hope I don't live to see the day when even some good old hentai game from my memory will be burned in flames of modernity.

I wasn't talking about ethics or, God forbid, legal, I was talking about quality. AI quality is shit. Always was, is now, and always will be. How do I know it? There are still problems with the hands, after all these years, and I mean YEARS. This is reality now. I just know that AI is a shortcut, but on a road to deadend.
The question is - when people who are really doing something - like you (and not empty chatterboxes on forums like me), will get tired enough to just give up and settle for machine quality.
I won't be convinced otherwise by some appeal to pity.
Sorry, I don't think my English is good enough to understand what you want to say. Or I didn't express my thoughts clearly enough in my last post and now we have a misunderstanding.

Well, I can only hope to see something like legacy-version, before AI-fication will go full throttle. I would rather choose fewer but high-quality pictures than a full assortment for any request but with glaring flaws.

I'd like to preface with the explicit idea that I'm not in a "I'm right - you're wrong" paradigm, we're just having a friendly chat.

Your position reminds me of the debate regarding computer monitors. People all went from CRTs to LCD, and now OLED... only for people to realize the market changed not because of quality but practicity, and that gaming on old CRTs is still arguably superior to doing so on the best grade modern LCDs screens (motion blur, contrast, fluidity, latency, etc.). Yet some of us are sadly realizing that no CRTs are getting sold anymore. Maybe we should have listened to conservative geeks in 2008!

If you're telling me that the future of hentai gaming is equally bleak, I kind of get the idea that JONT should maybe stay "retro". JONT feels "legacy" through and through; it's like Tekken 3 got a multi-billion $ remake today with modernized graphics, I'd still play the original because it captures something ineffable about its era.

The question is - when people who are really doing something - like you (and not empty chatterboxes on forums like me), will get tired enough to just give up and settle for machine quality.
I'll continue to gatekeep, for the game's sake 1740509230285.png . But it has to be a fair trial, I don't want to let an anti-IA bias get in the way of undeniable improvement.

Let's take one of bews old discarded slave: 1740509798016.png . Never mind that she doesn't show hands, we have some that also don't in the current game: 1034_blond_long_young.png . I attract your attention to the fact I had to hand draw the vaginas myself, last minute before release, on paintdotnet, because my fellow co-developper who was doing the v2.0 slave overhaul at the time didn't know I had just uncensored the entire game. The full body pictures were therefore a placeholder--still are. I'd replace this sloppy amateur work of mine with the IA slave any day of the week. Anti-IA preconceptions asides, wouldn't you too?

Sorry, I don't think my English is good enough to understand what you want to say. Or I didn't express my thoughts clearly enough in my last post and now we have a misunderstanding.
Fair enough, I thought you had a moral stance. Now I understand you seem to have a technical stance.

I believe this shouldn't be the main devs work, to maintain links for several versions. It's up to the community, that is thankfully revived from the grave of HongFire forum. v1.7.5 torrents are still out there, it's only my hope that v2.x will live on for years even when/if I completely stop my own involvement. Man, I recently had to throw out a panasonic 40 something inch CRT, it was like early 90s. The gun blew in it, wept like a child. Feels like they don't make things to last anymore, we're not replacing our heros.

I don't want to promise AI hands have been fixed.... but bews is still slowly working on his AI image pack behind the scenes, and the AI hands actually have 5 fingers... and not because I have spent many, many hours fixing AI hands by hand.

But our AI pack at this point feels very sisyphean, so I am glad someone else is also giving it a shot. He has thrown out everything and started over at least 2 times by now... because AI art advances so fast by the time we have something almost done, there is some new model which is simply just better and we start over. 3 weeks ago I would have said our progress is 80% done.

Now i'd say it is 0% done. Which isn't completely true, but that is what it feels like. XD

And again, if this new model he has keeps up... it really really is much better with not just the hands, but a lot of other things to. 100% done doesn't mean anything if it isn't good enough to put into the game after all.

It looks like my checkpoint isn't very good at generating what I need. I switched to another one and got this for 1138 wearing a square apron. ForgeAI is also much better at what I need to do than auto1111. The hands aren't perfect, but it looks like all the fingers are there and the eyes look similar to the ones in the game. I'm still trying to see what works and this image is just a test. I'm trying to keep the original aesthetic of the game this time.

wouldn't you too?
No, I wouldn't. I prefer your handwork, despite your self-criticism. The argument about fingers is only the tip of the iceberg, the most obvious and simple to explain.
But the problem is deeper - typical for AI matte skin texture, problems with shadows, with eyes - the longer you look at the drawing of machine, the more inaccuracies you notice and in total this gives the effect of "uncanny valley".
And I am convinced that this will never be eliminated, that the problem is so systematic that AI as a technology will never solve it. Perhaps in the future there will be a new, different technology, but AI is only good as a temporary or lazy (cheap) solutions.

That's why we're here - on the thread of a game long abandoned by its original creator. I agree that preserving is primarily in the interests of those who like the creation. It's like storing GTA4 before the radio was castrated, or Half-Life 2 before the graphics were downgraded (just examples).
So I keep my copy in a safe place. The trick may be to catch the moment - to take the latest version that interests you for safekeeping. But I'll try my best.

ZhiMaTuanZi has approached us about merging the Chinese fork of JONT into our development stream not only to catch up to current version but also to make it easier to maintain that parity going forward. Now that we have someone to collaborate with, the oft-requested localization of the game is moving from "maybe some day" to "active roadmap".

Can anyone help me with why my game doesn't detect any images? The game itself runs fine except for the fact that none of the pictures are loaded for some reason. It's just a white screen with text. The audio for the main screen also works at the very least, but it's impossible to play further when all icons are missing too.

I've tried both stable and developer versions (only no loli versions though) and both have the same issue. I've tried running as administrator and even compatibility mode with older windows versions and no difference.

Can you give a sneak peek of features available in the chinese fork but not main?

This is a really good point. Games that have procedurally-generated content can really benefit from AI art.

Do you have anything inside game\content\pic\...?

Aren't the girls procedurally generated? I could be mis-remembering.
Ah yes, kind of. The stats are randomized, with names and backstories pulling from a set (if I remember correctly).

True that there's potential in there too. Some of us were envisioning how cool it'd be for slaves to maintain a conversation with the player.

But I believe also that part of the playerbase would, ironically, lose the illusion that you're talking with a real slave. In videogames, usually players try things, then if the game reacts accordingly, it creates a "wow factor". Whereas when you talk with a chatbot, it's boring pretty fast and the limits appear very quickly (people tried with Skyrim and I believe it's not funny more than 5 minutes for most people, but I might be mistaken).

For now, IA could be use to expand the plot without having to write a novel worth of words from scratch. We wouldn't delegate, but rather feed it with our ideas and the lore, then double check every sentence before implementation, so it keeps an artistic soul.

Food for thoughts!

Personally I think AI is the future and it will just get better and better. Yeah it sucks it replaces jobs, but it can be huge for video games, and my ideal future is when entry level jobs are replaced by robots and everyone has a UBI and can just do hobbies all day
