I don't understand why people take massive files, slice them up, and force them to be downloaded in pieces on a slower-than-the-second-coming-of-Christ file hosts. Making torrents is so easy it's sad.

Effectively, yes. Unity doesn't seem to provide a way to store lossy textures.
