While I would agree with that in theory, in practice I find that with VNs that take their worldbuilding and intrigue seriously with a capital S I rapidly end up failing to keep track of it all and eventually just tune out everything that isn't an immediate choice (which is the part I care about when I try playing porn instead of watching it). This understandably gets even worse with games I get to continue playing after pauses of six months or more, where I end up completely forgetting not only what everyone's game is and what my last choices were but straight up who the heck is who even supposed to be.
