Hi everyone!
So this was the first formal week for me to start Part 3! So an update on that but also some other stuff too!
1) First of all, I am making a slight change to my weekly update. I am going to generally move my typical updates from late Sat/Sunday my time to late Sunday/early Monday instead moving forward. The reason is very simple -- my fiance and I typically had Friday nights free but we are both changing up our schedules a bit to get some joint downtime together on Saturday going into most of Sunday and trying to not work so hard during that time period. I'll still do things if needed of course but generally I believe this will help with the game too having a set time to wind down from everything.
So don't panic if there isn't an update immediately next Sunday as I will likely switch this to the next updated being roughly eight days away on late Sun/Mon my time, and then from there the same time every week. So basically not much changing except the day of the week moving forward.
The top image is the very first image I did for Part 3. I am not totally doing everything in chronological order of the narrative, but generally these are near the beginning of course.
My first week of work on the game is 103 renders, and roughly 450 lines of code. I consider that a pretty good start considering I tend to be a tad slow the first 2-3 weeks as I try and get my creative brain muscle back in swing. The break REALLY helped me this time. Seriously, it mattered. So thanks everyone for the kind words and especially patience with me.
So more updates on Part 3 soon.
2) I am going to start a walkthrough ("WT") this week. I really wanted a break this week to be creative on Part 3 a bit because for me, doing a WT is PAINFUL (seriously, I really, really, don't enjoy this kind of writing) because it is all technical writing without much creativity, so I wanted to enjoy this week with a little storytelling! But I will be starting this on likely Tuesday. Part 2 was a LONG update (5000 renders) so please give me a little time to put it together. It will be longer than any other prior WT.
3) I have initially done a Steam script/render update. I am interviewing/talking to a few people about the tech/UI elements I would like to add to this version. I am quietly doing this on the side at the same time as everything else. But I am trying to bring on help for the more technical stuff so I can focus on Part 3 and other stuff in normal day to day business/life too.
4) I will do a poll this week about fantasy sets for dom/sub characters, etc. I will put this up for discussion/vote about how people want me to work on this stuff. I have typically tried to do roughly 25-35 render sets of each side with people voting on characters/scenarios. I generally love to do these, but I also understand it comes at the sacrifice of some game work itself. So it's a tradeoff and I'd like to put it up for vote again. So expect a poll later in likely the middle of the week or so.
5) Last, I sometimes do share little things for better or worse. So I have an image above where you see a table and roughly 11 people seated. This specific render - after trying a LOT of tricks/tweaks is a max out memory for my 4090 at 23.7VRAM. (24 is the max) So I have been VERY frustrated for a long time that I cannot do a 20+ person scene properly (I have tried separate renders and combining them and lower textures for objects/people but generally they all just look like crap to me. I probably don't have the skill to technically do something really tricky to make it work because of VRAM limitation. So my original desire for this specific scene has always been 21 specific people in the room at the same time, but I realize it's just impossible to pull off. I have tried more than once and I am even doubtful a 5090 can do it. (32VRAM) I have one in theory coming...someday but the stock is hilariously low. Anyway, I am figuring out how to do a nice scene anyway here, but the reality is that I am just sharing a frustrating moment where I can't "show" what I see in my head.
6) So most of my work this week will be Part 3 and the WT, with a dose of Steam work with just discussions with a few people.
7) I'm getting deeper into wedding planning too! I am actually a pretty simple/easy person in a lot of ways (surprisingly not a Bridezilla) but it's our parents we're worried about right now! I also recently started a small non-profit with two of my best friends so it's yet another little ball to juggle. But I like doing a lot, so I'll manage!
Have a great week all!
Love,
Tess
